Hiking to Rainbow Falls and Devil's Postpile in Mammoth Lakes, California | Exploring Highway 395

We hiked the Rainbow Falls and Devil's Postpile in Mammoth Lakes on August 22, 2021. This hiking trip was the continuation of our 2021 family road trip in California. Daniel and I have been wanting to hike the Rainbow Falls for a couple of years now, but every time we tried to visit here, it is either the road isn't accessible due to heavy snow, or there is a wildfire or road construction. This trail is beautiful, and the fall is majestic.
If you are in Mammoth Lakes and you have spare time for a short hike, we highly recommend checking this out.

Is it true we need to ride a shuttle to the trailhead?

Hi Derek, yes it is partly true that you need to take a shuttle to get to the trailhead. But if you arrived at the entrance before 7am, you are allowed to drive your car up to the trailhead and not take the shuttle. That's what we did. We got there at 6am and parked at the Rainbow Falls Trailhead parking lot.
