I has the fortunate opportunity to meet him and see his act in Las Vegas about a year before his death. He was one of the most gracious, appreciating people I'd ever met. And he had me laughing so hard the person next to me felt the need to ask me to "chill out" -- which John saw on stage, pointed out the guy, and told him if he were laughing my laughing wouldn't have bothered him LOL

I go to a culinary school up in New York that has its roots in French cuisine. Halfway through my first semester I was a little worn out from eating campus food, didn’t have a car, and didn’t know the area that well. After bringing it up with my friends multiple times that week, a mutual friend of ours that had already heard this multiple times said “Well my favorite deli is 5-10 minutes away, you wanna go get something after class?” I couldn’t help it, the first thing that came to my mind was this John Pinette quote and I screamed it at him. Our whole group died laughing.

I haven't watched John Pinette in years. Then this video popped up in my KZbin suggestions today, and I couldn't believe how long it had been since I'd seen his stand-up. I forgot how much it always made me laugh... Then I find out he died in 2014...and I'm gutted. I don't think he was a big star in the UK, where I live, not that I saw anyway, so I must have missed the news of his passing. He always made me laugh, and that's probably the most fitting tribute for anyone, especially a stand-up comedian. All the best. Dan

Growing up, I watched a ton of stand-up comedy after school, on the weekends, during the summer, etc. By day or early evening, I'd be watching Comedy Central Presents, and by night, I'd be watching HBO's One Night Stand, or an old Young Comedians special, or various hour-longs by all the greats, you name it. The clip comes from one of these. For me, John Pinette was, truthfully, just one of countless extremely talented comics I enjoyed, but this bit right here was absolutely one of the funniest goddamn things I've ever heard. Both the jokes themselves and Pinette's flawless delivery had me in stiches, I thought I was gonna die from how hard I was laughing. I saw his episode a couple times, I believe, but even then it's been between fifteen and twenty years since then, but this bit stuck with me the whole time. Pure gold.

My chiropractor showed me after working on me. I laughed so hard I ran out of breath and it hurt my chest. I couldn’t laugh...if I breathed i would just laugh it out.

His material was great but his timing...the pause after "he's dead pass that over here ........I always eat when I'm sad.." I've watched it at least ten times, know it's coming and still laugh. RIP. He was great.

That's a really good sign of a really good comic. I can watch John's routines over and over and crack up each time. They don't ever get old.
