He actually had it in mind, to write up a whole thing about their town of Shermer, and explain where everyone lived and who knew who.. So for example, Molly Ringwald's character in _The Breakfast Club,_ knew Ferris from school. _(twas the same school)_ Emilio's character is somehow related to Sheen's character in _Ferris Bueller.._ _(his family owns the towing company that tows Rooney's car)_ The Griswolds from _National Lampoons,_ the Mcallisters from _Home Alone,_ the Buellers from _Ferris Bueller,_ The _Weird Science_ kids, Steve Martin's character in _Planes, Trains and Automobiles_ (and Ringwald's character in _16 Candles)_ all lived in the same town, and existed in the same universe.

I saw this in the theaters the summer of 1985 for a friend's birthday. Great memory. All us guys had a huge crush on Kelly LeBrock after this movie. TRIVIA: Kelly LeBrock was the inspiration for the Hall & Oats song "Maneater". Oats was in a bar and encountered her. She out cussed, smoked and drank every guy in the bar, and Oats thought to himself: "That woman would eat men alive".

She used to be married to Steven Seagal at one point. LeBrock's career began as a model. @@corinnepmorrison1854 yes, the original B&W versions are the best! Or do you mean the original Frankensteins are better than Mel Brook’s? I love them all for different reasons. The gothic atmosphere and strangeness of the Universal horror films can’t be beat, and the way that Boris Karloff beings such empathy to the monster. And Elsa Lanchester as the bride, so glamorous and bizarre - perfection! I love Mel Bs Young Frankenstein though for the humor, comic talent, and writing, but also the way they play off and honor the originals in lighting, sets, and costumes. They used the same original lab sets for the Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory! So yeah, I love it all. @@chrishackett554 - Wow. So that rejection helped create an even better movie that might not have existed otherwise. That's like BTTF producers telling Zemekis that an atomic bomb (boring) would be too expensive, so they cut the budget to keep it on the same set , which made it much better anyway, with lightning hitting the clock tower. Great to know! Thanks. And yes, that soundtrack is awesome. I got it too. Love that Lick the Tins cover of "Can't Help Falling In Love". The best song you can ever find for the ending of that movie.

Bill Paxton as Chet was one of the funniest things I had ever seen. He was one of the rarest actors there was. A character actor with enough raw charisma to steal every scene he was ever in. It was a genuine tragedy when he died.

The BEST part of this movie reaction - was watching the 2 of you reacting to it! You could tell that J. was going back to his male teen years with these boys - & feeling PLENTY of 2nd hand embarrassment for them. Amber was just having plain old embarrassment that teen boys could really be like this. As a female, I totally understand Amber.

Great reaction! Been a long while since I watched this movie, forgot alot of those scenes, felt like watching them for the first time. Fyi, Anthony Michael Hall starred in a film later on in the 80's called "Johnny B Goode". He plays a blue chip high school quarterback getting recruited by several colleges and it gets into the darker side of of athletics, in a way. Not a "reaction worthy" film, really, but I think it would be right up Jay's alley.

"License To Drive" from 1988 starring The Two Coreys, Corey Haim and Corey Feldmen, ("The Lost Boys" which was one of the first films you saw on your channel) is also a fun 80's high school comedy I know you would enjoy.

Not long after this movie Anthony Michael Hall went on a fitness bender and came out of it more than 50lbs heavier with muscles. It was done natural as he did not trust steroids which were still legal though discouraged. This was one of Robert Downey Jr's first breakout roles. A couple of years later, however he was repeatedly busted for drug use and most in hollywood thought he would be dead by the 90s. Downey Jr cleaned up and went on to being a major star in hollywood.

❤❤❤❤❤❤ this movie and Im glad you understood the premise. Yes she's a grown woman and looking at it from "today's" PC lense this movie has cringe galore!!! But the point is that she's supposed to be a teen boy's fantasy and Im glad Amber recognized it 👍🏼 and with that enjoyed the movie. That "Oh Gary!!!!" Scene still gets to me! Lol P.S. The reason Lisa can do magic is because of the Houdini input in creating her, to answer Amber's Houdini question. Again ❤ your reactions. 💯

When Amber said at the 8:45 mark, "I'm not trying to understand how it's happening. I'm just going to roll with it" ~ I knew at that point she was going to have a great time watching the rest of the movie..... and when Anthony Michael Hall's character, Gary, got plastered at the bar, there were times I thought Amber was literally going to fall out of the chair she was laughing so hard..... and she completely lost it when Gary said "Well my nutz are halfway up my a$$ but other than that I'm perfect!" So as much as you both laughed and enjoyed this movie as adults, imagine being a 14-year-old boy seeing this for the first time in a packed movie theater! The combination of John Hughes directing and Michael Anthony Hall acting in the mid-1980's was gold; and I don't think there was a teenage boy in 1985 that didn't have a crush on Kelly LeBrock. Between the Woman in Red (1984) and Weird Science (1985) there were a lot of posters sold of her that were hanging on the wall in boy's rooms. I've enjoyed quite a few of your reactions, but honestly, I don't think I've seen the two of you having as much fun as you were having while watching this movie. This reaction was an absolute good time to watch along with.
