Sounds like you had a soggy one, at least the Lanshan and your dog held up canny 😂😂 It's rotten packing away in the wet, but on a night time I love the sound of rain on a tent - earplugs come in handy if it gets too loud though 😂

Hi David - yip, you are 100% correct - on this occasion the sunset and rise would have to be viewed from separate doors, I meant to edit that out but forgot - a few months ago though, when the days were longer, I'd pitched here and the sunset and rise were out of the same door, it just depends on the time of year. It's a lovely area, and I was quite out in the open so not everyone would pitch there, which I like, I always strive to be different and keep original. The TFM (tiny flying machine) really picked out the beauty of the hills and the colours and contours, I was amazed at the footage! Cheers David, hope you had a good weekend :)

Hello Donna its a shame you have to sell some of your possessions to buy better equipment but with the new kit being that expensive you have to just do it to see theses wonderful scenic area's if id known you back in my day when i was all outdoors, camping and anything in the outdoors you could have had all my kit for free as had no use for it anymore you could have bought another mountain star (there was stoves , sleeping bags spring, summer,autumn, winter (all cleaned 😊) blankets sleep mats cutlery, cups ,plates,water bottles, the list goes on i ended up giving them to charity to sell on but hindsight is a wonderful thing just a tip on midge repellent you could try sage , citronella burning it or use it in it's natural form and don't camp in long grass enjoyable video thanks for sharing X❤X

That was really decent of you to give your stuff to charity Norman, but it must have been a bit sad getting rid of all your treasured camping posessions. I hate selling tents on, but this time I was ok because I knew what it had funded - and I'll get more use out of this tent than the one's I sold. I wasn't expecting midges that night, or I'd have brought my Smidge out, that stuff works wonders for me, loads better than the Avon SSS and better than citronella - I also burn mosquito coils if it's really bad. To be fair this year hasn't been anywhere near as bad as it was forecast a few months ago. I've only had 3 ticks and I think I've only been swarmed by midges just the once - and I'm out twice weekly, so that's not bad going. You're spot on with your comment regarding long grass mind, that's where the little blighters hide. I remember pitching my Cloud Peak up a Breamish Valley hill a good few years ago, and I heard this weird rustling noise as I laid the groundsheet out......and seconds later they all appeared out of the long grass and set upon me. Horrible! Ended up with a tent full and it took me ages to kill them all (thankfully that tent had a yellow inner, easier to spot them....) Cheers Norman Xx

We were talking about Slalom Lager and Slalom International at work a few weeks ago, The Doll was such a great pub, wooden floors, full of smoke and 'There's A Bad Moon on the Rise' always seemed to be playing when you went in 🎶💚 Thanks for watching Dave, the TFM (Tiny Flying Machine - my new drone) gives the hills a whole new perspective, it's great to let other people see the beauty of the type of area's I pitch in :)

The TFM and the new tent were the stars of the show on this one Miriam🤎⛺ there's no way you could show the beautiful contours of the hills like that with a camera - maybe in a hot air balloon with a camera.....but hot air balloons aren't that stealthy 🙄😂 so the TFM does the job splendidly YeY!!! The new tent made me go a bit weak at the knees on that first pitching, what a good looking stealthy beast of a lightweight tent, but you can't take a good photo of it, lol, it blends in to it's surroundings too well 😂😂

Looks so stealthy be careful you don't lose it lol.i was in the Cheviots Sunday night I was on hare law in the mountain star the wind was constant 30mph when I got there had to sit and have a beer or 2 till it dropped lol.

Yeah, me and Llama Annie were out in the Cheviots Sunday night and we dropped down from the hillfort we'd planned to camp on, it was a steady 20mph where we were, up at 400m, but that's still gusty, and we knew there was a good sheltered spot nearby, so we opted for that so we could chat comfortably between tents. Hope you had a good un where you were - it's an area that's on my radar Craig, but apart from a recce drive down the lanes up that way a few years ago, I've yet to camp up there.

Just to say why not dip your toes in the Arrochar Alps if you're up that way, it's a stunner of an area with good amenities, excellent parking & mountains for as far as the eye can see. But yeah, head to the Arrochars, they're breath-taking and not half as busy as Glencoe - especially if you head up past the Rest and Be Thankful Viewpoint, take a sharp left and park by the start of the Ben Donich trail.

The freddo bars in the 90s were chocolate and 10p the caramel one was called a tazzo and was 15p. Disappointed they got rid of the tazzo to make a caramel freddo. 😂😂 New tent is a beaut. I keep checking the kuiu site to see if the storm star goes on sale but it actually keeps going up a couple a quid a time 😂

I never knew that about Tazzo's - I can't even remember Tazzo bars, but I defo remember Freddo's being 10p. The new tent is exceptionally good looking Allan, absolutely perfect for stealthier camping this side of the Border, it's even more stealthier than I imagined. And the price of Storm Stars is very reasonable at the moment - it all depends on the exchange rate of the $ to the £ - I've saw them go as high as £800 before. I've been popping on that KUIU website for the last 2.5 years and that's the first time I've seen one of their tents with 20% off (it's finished now) so I wouldn't be waiting around for a sale anytime soon, even in the Black Friday sales they never went down.

Lovely to meet you too Jimmy, it felt a bit like meeting an old friend 😊 Yeah, the new tent is the perfect colour for blending in up the Northumbrian hills, it's almost flipping invisible 🤣 and I've been really impressed with the quality of the drone shots, it shows the beauty of the hills, the colours and the contours that a photograph never could. My tents are all mid priced I suppose, I've a Robens Challenger 2 (which we're currently out in as I type this - "stealth camping" as the youtubers call it 😆 near Marlborough College (yep, we're still in Wilts)) a Snugpak Ionosphere and a Wild Country Helm Compact 2. Like you say, they all serve a different purpose and I like them all, but.. I do think the Robens (that I'm in now and even though it only has one entry) is my fave. Hya Karen, happy Saturday, hope you've got some nice stuff planned for the weekend 😁 I use a DJI Mini2, it takes excellent quality video, it's fun to use (ok, sometimes it gets quite scary when you can't see where it is 😬😂) and it show's off the hills and where I pitch up like a photograph never could. The only downsides are the extra weight to carry, and making sure the weather is going to be ok for flying. I've got my garden all sorted now lol, heading off to Scotland next week for an extended break, so it needed a good massacre. New tent is drop dead gorgeous, I actually went a bit weak at the knees on that first erection...... 🤭😇😂Xx

It's a stealthier Mountain Star Dave, the Storm Star is the heavier 4 season one (my all-time favourite tent), I'll get loads of use out of this tent as long as I don't lose it up the hills, dear me does it blend in well! And that makes me the proud owner of 4 Kuiu's now 😁 that'll do me, I'll be buying no more lol, it's a brand I've grown to love and trust though, great quality as well. Those TFM's can handle some pretty strong winds, well in excess of 15mph. I was chuffed to bits with the footage it took - obviously it had a very skilled pilot flying it 🙄 the Cheviot Hills looked magnificent 🤎💚

@@BorderRambler DJI state the Mini 2 can take 22mph, I'm pretty sure I've had mine out in stronger winds than that, but the constant high wind warnings and that woman inside the controller begging you to 'return to home' make your butt cheeks clench together when you can't see the little thing anywhere nearby in the sky 🤣🤣

Laughing at the 'speeded up sheep X-Box game' comment, it does look like a vid game 😂😂 I love catching stuff like that on time-lapse, when they all bobbed over the side of the hill at the end I'd meant to write 'weeeeeee!!' on the screen but I forgot, doh! That tent is almost too Stealthy Neilo - I control the TFM by knowing where my tent is, because it's usually a flash of orange, and I can bring it back quickly & safely - with new stealthy tent it's harder to locate myself 😬 I'm not complaining though, because it's one heck of a good looking beast & I already know what it's capable of, having owned the other one for over a year. Morning Neilson - the song is a cover of Hard Sun by Gordon Peterson (also off the film 'Into the Wild', sung by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam on the film). KZbin have just changed their copyright rules so I'll not be able to use it anymore. I'm headed over to Islay and Jura next week, unsure if I'll do Mull, I'm just gonna take each day as it comes, maybe follow the weather, and just enjoy being outdoors.
