Wow, what a tractor! I knew it would pull hills well but didn't know it would have that kind of acceleration available as well. This review was a complete surprise for because of the 4-5 other youtube reviews for this model, they all left me with questions and without a solid grasp of what this model as to offer. BY FAR, the best review of this scooter from anyone, ever!

Fun review of the Climber over at ESG. It beat everything in the hill climb under $1000. He even took it up San Bruno Mtn, which reminded me of a scaled down version of your South Mtn runs. Interesting to see that Paul hit the same 21.4mph even at his 165lbs but I suppose not unexpected with electronic speed limit.

Dude, I still can't get over this thing beating the Apollo GO to 20mph!! ...then out ranging it by 5mi while doing the same average speed, with a technically smaller battery. HAHA! I only thought of this because so many people on the forums are captured and memorized by Apollo's marketing about their electronic efficiency. Obviously it's a combination of controlers, cells and motors but whatever InMotion is doing, it's super impressive at a $699 price point. Literally the only thing it's missing when compared to the other Commuter Groups, is a front suspension. Since I don't care about turn signals and button placement isn't a deal breaker for me with this type of scooter, my "magic wand" changes for the climber would be 3-4 mph higher speed and a simple, front suspension.
@tomsgadgetgarage3 ай бұрын
The acceleration was definitely a surprise. It gets to speed really quickly and smoothly. If they ever come out with a suspension version with the same ride experience, they will really be a force to be reckoned with. I’m tempted to take it up to South Mountain in the coming weeks. I feel like it could possibly do the whole route.
@Patriot36Ай бұрын
@@tomsgadgetgarage Oh, now that you mentioned South Mountain, I thought for sure you already took the Climber up it. So much for my memory... In any case, yes I think the climber would kick butt and make just it to all three stops.

Very interesting. This must be version 2 of the Climber. I have the earlier version which lacks turn signals. Also my controller recently malfunctioned and I was supplied with a replacement controller that did not fit. Presumably it's the controller that would fit your scooter. The retailer is now sourcing the earlier version of the controller for me. 🤘👍

@@tomsgadgetgarage I'm getting the impression the new version has taken many folks by surprise. Possibly Inmotion could have communicated better especially to retailers and parts stockists. To answer your question - the Climber is excellent. Obviously I'm disappointed the controller has failed. I'm willing to give it a second chance at life for it's great hill climbing ability in a commuter sized package.

You talk torque with the dual motor setup but I don't think I ever heard the claimed number. Watts (nom/peak) for power and no torque value. Do they not provide the numbers?
@tomsgadgetgarage3 ай бұрын
So strangely enough there are no published torque numbers that I can find online or in any of the product documentation. I also don’t have a dyno to test it out on. They’ve got to be high though because the Climber really excels at climbing steep inclines.
@tylertyler53973 ай бұрын
Which scooter would you prefer this one or the G2?
@tomsgadgetgarage3 ай бұрын
The Max G2 has a more comfortable ride because of its class leading suspension. But it really does lack in power compared to the Climber. The Climber can also tackle much steeper inclines than the Max G2. So for that reason, if I had to choose between the two from a performance and hill climbing perspective, I’d go with the Climber. Segway is in the process of rolling out new firmware which brings more power to the Max G2, but it’s not available for me to test yet. As soon as it becomes available, I’ll test performance on both.

The brakes on this thing is loud as hell. You can hear it in this review. I returned it for that reason alone. You don't even need the bell to alert people, they can hear the squeaky brakes from a mile away.
@tomsgadgetgarage3 ай бұрын
Yah my brakes started squeaking after riding around in dusty areas. I will clean them with some alcohol and see if that does it. Unfortunately with disc brakes, they are prone to squeaking, especially when riding around muddy/dusty areas. Funny story, Porsche actually published a video on how squeaky brakes are normal lol. Probably had to many people in the service department 😅
@Patriot363 ай бұрын
Valid complaint but every disc brake scooter is susceptible to this. Sometimes it's inherent to a particular design that causes more resonate squealing but a lot of the time it's just the brake pad material that the manufacturer happened to acquire through a particular vendor. Sometimes it's the rotor design or metallurgy. In any case, there's usually an inexpensive fix, for people who really like the scooter otherwise.
