One of my parents is in this triad so this video really helped me undersrand how they think. That's something I often struggle with because we usually react to everything so differently! (I'm a 2 and they're a 4.) Usually, they will want to hold onto the emotion and work through it thoroughly, whilst I prefer to push it aside and move on with life (usually not my own life - I'm a two so I'm taking care of others' lives instead 😂).

Hillary, I’ve been following your channel for a few months… and I want to say I just love your videos. They are fun and encouraging. More than that, I feel that you are fun and encouraging. You seem so personable. I wish I could meet you in real life! You’re doing a great job at creating the videos. The edits, graphics, and organization of your script is on point. All that to say, you are doing a great job and I want you to feel encouraged! -Yar Brodau, a type 6!

Great video Hilary!! ^^ I've heard about the harmonic triads before but never to this extent. On the surface, when I hear the names for all three harmonic triads, I relate the most to the Logical/Competency Style and Reactive Style. When you delve deeper into the topic, I start to clearly see how I differ from the Reactive Style. As a 1w2 sp/sx, when things don't go my way, I can have a strong emotional reactions but I typically don't like expressing these feelings. I'd rather funnel that intensity towards fixing the problem and more importantly preventing it from happening again. If I vent about something, it's usually to express how someone did something wrong or so I can get advice to avoid future disappointment. This video has encouraged me though to be a little more outwardly expressive.

I often get mistyped as a 1, because I actively try to repress my anger. However, it’s because I have learned that when I get angry, it’s because someone else has control over me, and I don’t want anyone to know they have that power. So, when it comes out, it catches a lot of people off guard. I have scared 8s who are angrier than me.

@@francesca.pellegrino oh yeah still I can relate as a SP/SX 4. Keeping that frustration bottled up until it explodes so bad that my social 8 boyfriend gets a bit scared. not proud of those outbursts, at least they happen very rarely. Mostly when my values are dismissed, or when someone tries to control me. "I'm a 4, i need to express myself the way i want, don't tell me what to do." I need to work on this one haha
@francesca.pellegrino3 жыл бұрын
@@dianana7371 yes, it happens. I’m an SX/SO 8, and the SO helps me mask and/or redirect my anger at something when it is socially unacceptable to unleash my anger. But when it all gets to be too much, that all falls away and I just am who I am. It’s funny how looking at things through these lenses helps people to see how similar behaviors come from completely different motivations. Some of my best friends growing up are 4s, and this makes sense both as to why we were such good friends, and, in some cases, why our breakups were so explosive and irreparable.

Even though I'm Type 4, I always feel drawn to Type 6s and I wrote a character in my novel who's a Type 8. I guess this partially explains why.

Interesting reading this. I’d love for you to do a series on workplace reactions or mention it a little more. Being a reactive type I have a hard time with expressing too much and then shutting down. If I am disappointed I shut down. If I’m angry you can see it and hear it.

Welp, time to go to get the leash. You have just addressed the Cerberus of my internal everything and now they are barking. My 8 is the GSD of the group. Very bitey, much lard shark. No touchie, just lookie. My 6 is the Husky. Ugh. Just... No. The fence is not a representation of the oppression inherent in the system. It is there to... Nope, there he goes again... My 4 is the derpy chihuahua mix with no teeth and a lolling tongue. Dumb as a bag of hammers, but still thinks it is the *_BIG DAWG_* of the yard. Do you know how tired I am of having to walk these wings and dominant positions? All the time, _I am emotional, I matter, I belong, blah, blah, blah._ Here, a bone and a ball. This is all you need mathematically to be happy. The data proves it. Just... Just stop hopping over the fence... Just don't.

LOL. I didn’t even think about it but you being a 5-you do use all types in this group. How did you get so self aware? You know yourself better than anyone I know. Thanks for always bringing the fun and witt to my video comments section! I’ll just be over here waiting to read the book you write someday 😅

@@enneagramandcoaching Trust me, when you have all of these wings doing things illogically and making things worse, you have no choice but to stare it in the face and beg to get them to stop. Actually, it reminds me of the old wolf mix my father's friend once had in my youth. It was strong enough to get out of chain leashes and when it escaped, they hid everyone in the house and gave them guns to defend themselves from the dog until its master could calm him down. THAT is probably more fitting of an 8. It was like a bad movie where they said to kill the kids if the dog got in the house first since they didn't want us to suffer. That was when I was 8. No wonder I had a healthy fear of all pets in my youth. Thanks for sparking that interesting memory. I appreciate it!

ding to an interview with Dr. Rhenn Cherry, a Biblical Counselor who wrote his PhD dissertation on the Enneagram, approximately 139 doctoral-level mental health professionals, with an average of 26 years experience, participated in a peer reviewed study in 2015 which found the Enneagram placing 2nd to last place on the first round of testing and last on the 2nd round… out of 36 protocols. The Enneagram is not a valid scientific tool pertaining to Personality, even if marketed as such.
