Spoken and Written by Richard Rohr. All credit, respect, and my thanks goes to him and his team
Disclaimer: I didn't make this nor do I inherently agree with everything spoken. (Additional Disclaimer in comment section)
This series is made years ago back when DVD's were a thing and so I've spent weeks trying to hunt down the video files until I found them on Vimeo.

As a 50 year old Christian, I’ve been told in a word of knowledge I’ll be “healed in the tears” as I feel broken. I think that’s where life grows, brokenness. Think broken grunge gen Xer .

For me, Richard Rohr is the best teacher of the enneagram. He brings each type to life and gets straight to the point with both humour and compassion. Richard also types many famous people differently (eg Marilyn Monroe as a 4 not a 6) and why. I highly recommend his books and videos.

Funny thing, I bought The Hobbit and the trilogy in 9/11/2001, not because of what was happening that day, just because I decided to watch the movies as an informed reader for a change. So I was sitting down at a coffee shop, reading this, and I looked up at the tv and saw the twin towers on fire and I thought "Wow, cool cgi." I read a bit more, and then I looked up and the Pentagon was on fire, and I was like "Is this some new action movie... Oh wait, IT'S THE NEWS!" The books ended up being my hiding place for 40 days... So my memories are really weird on that time frame.

Its a tremendous revelation of seeing your own bullshit and not judging. Every situation that comes to us is an opportunity to connect to the True Self. We have to stand back and disengage. Richard is a tremendous boost to spirituality whether yourChristian, Muslim, Buddhist or Hindu trapped in a religion that feeds into your pseudo self. Real Christianity or Islam etc is liberation from entrapment with a mind-based ideology rather than addressing Reality as is. Its a matter of seeing our own blindness and moving towards Truth. I would be so blessed to meet such an illuminated man like Richard.

I'm around 1 hour 35 right now. And while this whole talk has been interesting, this section is really hitting me like and Epiphany. This talk of sin has blinding you to how God sees you and blinding others to the reflection of God through you is remarkable. I personally have never been comfortable with the notion of sin as my innate evilness. And so re-categorizations such as this are very helpful in developing a model of sin that I can use. As opposed to a model of sin that I simply rail against. I hope the others of you watching this are finding similarly insightful moments! Thank you for sharing this.

I hear you, but in the final analysis your comfort levels are not really the barometer for Bible truth. Sin is super destructive to our thinking and being, it ruins first our relationship with God. I agree we can then have a distorted view of ourselves and God but we can't omit what's so clear in Scripture either.

Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone about typing yourself. In this video Richard says that if you don't know your type at the end you are either a 6 or a 9. That wasn't the case for me. At first I typed as a 6. Later realized only bits of that described me. Then with suggestions of others I tried 4. That didn't work because I was too bitter and cynical towards others, so then I tried 8. I am a lot like an 8 cynical, bitter, defensive, but alas, I am not an 8. I am just a really unhealthy 2 that looks like an 8 on the outside but I have the core fear of a 2. I just couldn't admit it until I was put into a situation that shone a light on my 2ness. I cried for a long time after I found out I was a 2. I am pretty convinced. So just keep in mind you may mistype a few times so don't quickly attach onto one type as it may be a bodyguard for your real core type. For 2s when they are unhealthy or stress they basically become 8s. Each type has a type that they mimic when they are healthy and unhealthy. Please keep that in mind

He says that therapy or words won't get you closer to the truth and may even reinforce your story of "poor me" or of "me". That's sometimes true; words may come from conditioning, defenses and compulsion, but some words come out of that silence; from depth and insight and can sometimes facilitate witnessing, helping you to embrace all your thoughts and emotions vs polarizing/resisting. Sometimes God uses us/others to say the right words at the right time to the right person to pierce their defenses and reach our/ their heart.

You might like to know that evil, at least the human understanding of it, is an education for the mind. What I mean is, most people when they're small hear their parents talking about "evil" and other Christian non-sense. If you're not raised in it, there aren't many or any Christians around you before your teens...you won't have any real indoctrination about it...thus evil won't exist. Evil is taught in Churches and Sunday School. Once you have Evil educated in your mind it can be challenging to let go of. Many do. I did. When you free yourself of that kind of education, you feel much better...and you don't see it around you much. You will realize it's a creation for the mind...nothing more. I've been around and experienced many things. Priests, Evangelicals, are the most "evil" people on the planet...per se, because of what they pass along. The first use of "Evil" was used by the Anunnaki, the modifiers of humanity. Before humans existed on this planet, by way of them, the Anunnaki used Evil to mean something "really bad" or "really powerful" like a massive bomb destruction. It was never used as "Demonic" or "Satanic" because humans invented "Satan". Think about that. It's very profound. When humans let go of "Evil"..they'll see the world and Life Energy as it truly is. I did, and I do. Here's a helpful tip... Check the movie "Vantage Point" including the extras. An extremely well made movie about perspectives and how to understand them MUCH better.

@@rulistening7777 "Evil is just a dicriptive. Satan is not a being." - I am very well aware of what "Evil" is...it was first used by Enki that we have documented evidence of in Cuneiform tablets. Evil just means something really horrible. Enki was watching is an extremely powerful "bomb" was doing its thing..and he remarked about the "Evil Wind". Otherwise evil does not exist. "Not some fallen light bearer....angel." - I've known since I was age 1 and before born that Christianity and Catholic ways are in big errors. There aren't any angles, there aren't any demons. There sure aren't any massiahs' or saviors other than people and other Beings helping one another or ourselves. As for the Bible, I think the character Lucifer (Enki renamed) is pretty cool vs the "God" with respect to Garden of Eden, the very short version in the Bible...he (Enlil) wanted to keep humans stupid. "The word is ha' satan. It is a descriptive word. Describing adversarial behavior. Adversarial to Love." - Satan, the word, has taken on many forms and pronunciations. When you get right to it..it's ALL human-made junk..and story telling to scare people through superstitions. There was a lot writing about the Anunnaki and other stuff as the Elohim. "Anybody can be ha' satan at any time." - We all have positive and negative within us. Depends how we choose to use it, and if we choose to. Which is why there is not any kind of final judgement, especially not the junk that Christians and Catholics "believe" in. Did Enki leave some guidelines of us to follow being leaving the planet? Yes! Will a person who has done "mean" things to another be Punished into a "Hell" or someone who has some wonderful things go to "Heaven"?? NO! But the experiences are added to the Eternal Soul. I adore Cuneiform because it pre-dates all human-made religions. Organized cult religions, such as Christianity, don't help anyone. They are the cause of great suffering and telling people to reject their own empowerment for someone else. That's Ha'Satan to me. Hehehehe. So, those are 'Satanic" religions, per se.

I don't know if I'm gonna make a bunch of posts while going through this, but his comment around the 8 or 9 about Americans not liking subtlety is true. But I also think that any society large enough will average out to not care about subtly. It's easier to run a tribe when there is a baseline understanding, with a focusing on tangibles like wealth, land, blood, family, etc. This video series isn't probably about society as much as I feel it might be, but after listening to The Golden Bough, it's hard to separate religions from the the systems that humans live in.

Me and my friend generally agree that the only real way to change a culture is through material means. Cultural warfare doesn't really work well when the majority of people have their minimal amount of needs met (which isn't much). When he gets to the 3 he breaks down that achievers seek efficiency and want to cut to the chase. I feel the strongest proof of Americans not liking subtly would be the general glossing over of any art trying to make a difference but This Is America left a cultural impact for exposing them.

No.... Twos... Within the matured and blossomed conteplative minds..... Arrive not to the goal 🥅 of serving others for their own ego... But rather because a twos greatest adventure is teaching others to love... Love itself... To be lovers themselves... And as lovers to teach others thereafter to be lovers and there forward.... I love Richard Rohr... Not necessarily because he teaches "new" ideas... But because he is an effective communicator of profound truths..... I feel blessed because i have already discovered these truths by counsel of the Holy Spirit in my own redemption walk... He says at the end of this video.... We should not like ourselves.. In the matter of context... But not true for me.... I feel blessed because I have already been in this tug-of-war of discovery.. Questioning... Revelation... Freedom and redemption since i was 15 years old... I'm now 42....it's been the wildest ride that has many times made me look and feel crazy... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.... But it's not crazy at all.... Now that I am in the latter chapters of blossoming.... I just found out about Richard Rohr.... And although there is not much new info he shares... I will keep listening in hopes for new revelation.... Plus i like listening to what my thoughts actually sound like.... Gathered... Grouped.. Polished... Elaborated.... And communicted clearly.... 😂.... Literally i sound just like him... And usually people are like... Whaaaa.... Whooo.... Whaaa... 😕😕😕😕😕

It seems like the SECRET most people fall for to have a "Happy life" is to not try to integrate your contradictions, and maybe the happiest person has 7 perfectly good (maybe 9?) false-selves who can function in their own delegated domains and never question why they can't work better together when there's conflicts. Or at least that number would make it easier when one false-self fails, to redirect to the other ones until you can sort things out to a new equilibrium. But the "true self" would seem to have to require more self-awareness (non-judgemental as Richard says). And maybe under crisis, we force ourselves to see more, and when things calm down, we go back to the false-selves in habit.

What's helpful, what's not? To me, saying people today (seeking spectacle, dismissing subtlety) have no ability to discern spirits is not helpful. Referring to this as an inability suggests something innate. Perhaps it is an ability hidden/lost/overlooked due to inattention, ignorance, and indifference. We lack awareness, tools, and training. The Enneagram will be helpful. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. As a kindness advocate, I believe we can cultivate kindness and create a culture of kindness. We can choose kindness, mindful kindness. The Enneagram will help ensure a mindful, contemplative approach to spiritual and social transformation. Coupled with a.desire to embrace, embody, and express God's lovingkindness, our human capacity to love has great potential.Namaste.

The report identified areas of concern and stated: “While the enneagram system shares little with traditional Christian doctrine or spirituality, it also shares little with the methods and criteria of modern science.” AJesus Christ book coverIng 2003 the Vatican document “Jesus Christ, Bearer of the Water of Life”, which dealt with the dangers of New Age practices, said that gnosticism “has always existed side by side with Christianity … more often assuming the characteristics of a religion or a para-religion in distinct, if not declared, conflict with all that is essentially Christian. An example of this can be seen in the enneagram, the nine-type tool for character analysis, which when used as a means of spiritual growth introduces an ambiguity in the doctrine and the life of the Christian faith” (1.4).

Why would a person want to integrate their sin(43:10)? I have accepted Christ, not to integrate my sin, but to "go and sin no more" as Jesus said to the adulteress woman. Am I hearing this wrong? This is the antithesis of, deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow Jesus.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us n1 John 1:8. I think he is referring to acknowledging our shortcomings and character defects so that we are no longer pretending to have no sin. We become integrated when we acknowledge the good, bad and ugly within, then Jesus is given access to change our shadow side

@@towngirl1665 Thanks for your reply. As regards my comment above, it looks rather fragmentary and so I may well have been watching this late at night and not completed my intended remark yet somehow it was saved without completing it. Regrets. In any case, in reviewing what is there, from my recollection I would say that my impression of this video is that Fr. Rohr incorporates his own assumptions not in accord with traditional Catholicism and square with observable facts. One example is that he assumes that humans always have selfish motives which is flatly untrue. It is only a possibility, but not an absolute. Other assumptions appear to be directly related to his psychological notions. Another example is when he says that God will use one's evil to bring himself to God which simply doesn't work for one who remain unrepentant. Fr. Rohr then follows by saying that all the rest of the Gospel is not Good News, because it's based upon trying to get rid of something he can get rid of. This is simply contradictory to the potential of God's grace and Catholic theology. Further to this, he adds that then one is left with self-hatred as if there's no other choice and that would be predicated upon despair, not hope and certainly not Christianity. Relative to your assertion above regarding the apprehension of various phenomena, it would appear that we may fundamentally disagree insofar as you assert that the above mentioned phenomena "are inherently subjective", whereas, while I recognise subjective views, I also accept objective truth and that it can be recognised and articulated cogently and intelligibly although not all can grasp or accept this. By and large, subjectivism and objectivism are irreconcilable which can leave some agreeing to disagree; but I always like to keep dialogue open in my arching optimism to advance mutual understanding. So, a question that you may wish to consider is the following, if "Spiritualism, religion, and the complexity of the human mind are all inherently subjective," [your remark above], is that objectively true or subjective? If it's only subjective, what value would it offer anyone who seeks to make decisions upon truth? Take care and may God bless you.

In actuality, people do not have positive views of artists. They have jealous, negative views and stereotypes, yet want to be labelled artists themselves. Thinkers can be assume snobs for just having a passion for ideas and not being particularly people people. They can also be branded snobs as an insult by people who feel intimidated by them despite all their efforts to be approachable and listen to others. Fear is something that should be their to caution you not to paralyze you. The rabbit is afraid of being eaten, therefor the rabbit get a shot of adrenaline and runs for its life and escapes the predictor. You speak many good things, yet there are still flaws in this system. I think people are born with their qualities and are then forced into and taught to take on the negatives and then are challenged to over come them and return to their purest selves. Beautiful is more than beauty. Its not prettiness or extravagance, beauty can be found anywhere. Sacred geometry is beautiful and it's in everything. You have no clue. It's not about beauty, it's harmony. Japanese art is about how these forms speak to the mind and soul and assist us in living in harmony vs chaos. You clearly do not understand art and design. Christianity is flawed.

So, I'm not sure I 100% understand, but I think this suggests that God is just that part of you which isn't the ego and isn't the part that condemns, judges and resents the ego. The Father is the inherited (nature) side of us, all the shit we have no choice about because we were born that way. The Son is the learned (nurture) side of us, what we pick up from the way we are treated as kids. And the Holy Spirit is the part of us that isn't either of those things and can stand apart and observe non-judgementally. Essentially God. But at the same time the soul is all three?

Concerning why the spirit is different from psychology, this paste I wrote for people enraged with the sadistic psychopathic God of the Tanakh but also explains much more. God is good and takes full responsibility for the creation of evil. Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. Proverbs 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. And God promises to remove evil completely. Nahum 1:9 What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Evil is temporarily necessary for us to have the free will necessary to create our own soul, personality, character. Evil and Hell are simply the absence of God. God = fiery, love, light, good, truth, life Deuteronomy 4:24 For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire... hell = fiery, hate, dark, evil, lies, death. 1 Corinthians 3:13 Every man's (spirit, mind, consciousness) work (soul, personality, character) shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire (God); and the fire shall try every man's (spirit, mind, consciousness) work (soul, personality, character) of what sort it is. 1 Corinthians 3:14 If any man's (spirit, mind, consciousness) work (soul, personality, character) abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 1 Corinthians 3:15 If any man's (spirit, mind, consciousness) work (soul, personality, character) shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself (spirit, mind, consciousness) shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's (spirit, mind, consciousness) work (soul, personality, character), pass the time of your sojourning (temporary residence) here in fear: Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men (spirit, mind, consciousness) once to die (separate from God like Adam), but after this the judgment:(the Krisis of rejoining God) Revelation 20:14 And death (separation from God) and hell (negative God) were cast into the lake of fire (God). This is the second death. (separation from an evil soul, personality, character). Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire (God) and brimstone: which is the second death.(separation from an evil soul, personality, character) Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death (separation from God), neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. But Matthew 16:26 For what is a man (spirit, mind, consciousness) profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul (soul, personality, character)? or what shall a man (spirit, mind, consciousness) give in exchange for his soul (soul, personality, character)? Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man (spirit, mind, consciousness), if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul (soul, personality, character)?
