After watching this video I realized the camper that my girlfriend bought was missing the dc positive and negative coming out of the ceiling which is why it wasn’t working. I ended up running it from a light switch by the thermostat and running it to the top of the ac unit for my power. It’s kind of redneck but it works! Thank you so much it saved me a lot of time. I spent all night wondering if I was missing something and why it wasn’t working the people she bought it from screwed up all the wiring

great info. Im getting ready to tackle this job tomorrow. Mine is a little different so Im taking it slow. I have an older duo therm penguin from 2002 on my Lance truck camper. The control box is not removeable. This is the low profile version with a heat strip. So I guess room was an issue because the control board is mounted next to the capacitors on top. Just not as plug and play as all the videos I've seen. Without this wiring info though no doubt it would take me much longer. Im updating because the thermostat was acting up on my last camping trip. So I figured it was time to get the analog one out. Otherwise this old penguin works great.

I wanted to see if you might have seen this before? I have a 1994 5th wheel hunting trailer. If got stuck by lightning. So the list of things not working is converter, hot water, furnace and AC. Replace the converter and my light came by on. That’s all. Bought the hot water control board and replaced that. Now the works. Bought the new Digital control box. Watched all 3 of your replacement videos. But my old AC control box does not have 12v cables going to it. Only 4 thermostat wires and 120v. I got the AC to work with the new Digital box. I just had to run exterior wires from the Digital box to my electrical box to get the 12v and I just ran exterior wire for everything for testing. I think the control board in the furnace it bad too. I bought the furnace control board but the connects are not the same as the one I bought. But when I turn the thermostat to furnace it pauses then the ac runs again not the furnace. I know the furnace board is most likely to be bad but should the ac run at all we the Digital thermostat calls for heat??? I just want to see if you have seen this scenario. If I had your email I could send you pictures of what have. Thanks again

Hey again. I posted a question/issue earlier today but did it as a reply on someone else's post. I think you responded but I can't find that person's post -- and I didn't get an email about it. Regardless, after drawing 3 diagrams (pigtail to new Dometic B59516.xx1 AC, wires from heater/12VAC, and 6-wire mess from new LCD SZ thermostat) and matching up 12+ with 12+, t-stat with t-stat, etc, I now have functioning AC!!!! Love the video too -- exact same stuff that I have -- only I got stumped with 12VAC coming from the heater so I got out the heater installation papers and studied the wiring diagram. AC!!!! Whoop!! Great video... We have a 05 winnebago horizon 40KD and we are pulling the old basement AC out and replacing with 2 dometic rooftop units. The previous furnace wires are hooked up to the old thermostats, but the 2 blue wires are used in conjuction with the 12v- and 12v+ that run to each furnace, for the new units will it matter which wires are hooked up? I was planning on just using the same wires that ran to the thermostats before... or does it HAVE to be one of the 2 blue wires?
@hillbillyrv

Can you help out again. My 1994 hunting trailer was hit by lightning. Not work be the microwave and refrigerator. I have got everything back working but the furnace I had to replace boards in everything. I put the new Digital board in my AC and I have re placed the board in my furnace but I’m not getting 12v at the furnace. My question is there any voltage that comes out of the two thermostat wires for the furnace out of the Digital AC box? I should get 12v DC at the relay on my 1994 Hydro flame furnace or/ & 10amp breaker on the furnace? I don’t think anything is coming out of my Digital AC box?
@hillbillyrv

12 volt DC for furnace comes from the coach. Down at the furnace you will have a red, yellow and 2 blue wires. Red pos yellow neg and blues are T-stat. one of the T-stats wires might have power on it, but that is not the main power source for the furnace.

Hello. Enjoy your videos... explained very well. A friend has a 1995 RV with original Dometic DuoTherm system. Having to upgrade from analog to digital. There is no furnace wires nor 12 volts in the ceiling opening. The 12 volts is at the thermostat on the furnace side wires... RH & W on the old coil type thermostat. Got a hold of the local big RV place and gave them the model numbers of the control box and was given a box just like you replaced on one of your videos. Need some advice what I need to do to replace old box. Thanks so much.
@hillbillyrv
@hillbillyrv 4 ай бұрын
Hi Adam. You will need to get 12 volt DC positive and negative to the new control box for it to work. If no furnace wires there, is the furnace on a separate t-stat all by itself? If necessary you can buy a doorbell transformer (just like in your house) to put up there to get 12 volt.
@adamtitus4336
@adamtitus4336 4 ай бұрын
@@hillbillyrv The old Duo Therm thermostat had heat and AC. When I removed the old thermostat, there are two low voltage cables feeding it. One had two wires: red (RH) and white (W.) Voltage between the red and white had 12 volts. The other has white (Y), green (G), red (RC), and gray (H). Letters in parenthesis are terminal location's on thermostat. No volts across these.
@adamtitus4336
@adamtitus4336 4 ай бұрын
@@hillbillyrv Let me ask you this... since the furnace wires are not up with the AC control box, could I stack the thermostats? If I install a 12v transformer where the control box is in the ceiling, wiring according to instructions, and using the AC low volt cable wires use 3 of the those wires to the digital thermostat that came with the kit for COMM/GRD/+12v terminals. Then for the low voltage 2 wire cable that has the 12 volts use a Honeywell RTH111 digital thermostat, which I have, just to operate the furnace? The wiring on that would be the 12 volt red wire on the RH terminal and the white on the W terminal. Think that might make things operational? Another thing... doesn't the 12 volts need to be dc on that transformer? Saw a few LED lighting 120 volt to 12 volt dc transformers that were reasonably priced. Thanks again.

I installed my new control box this spring and the ac side works great!! However I think Camping World sold me the wrong control box. Mine doesn't have the 2 spade connectors for the furnace on it. I've got the 2 blue wires coming out of the new box wire nutted to the 2 wires for the furnace, but my furnace won't turn on. My new box has another hookup for what looks like a heat strip. My trailer doesn't have that. Is there anyways to get the furnace to work? I'm in Indiana and the fall weather and it's getting down into the low 50s at night.

I don't know what they sold you. No spades for the furnace wires? 2 blue wires coming out of the control box? If you touch the furnace t stat wires together, furnace should run. If it runs then you have a control problem. If not, problem is in the furnace. Don't forget there is a delay, so you have to hold the wires together for several seconds.

No ground on either terminal. Contacts in heat sensor are "normally closed". We disconnected the two blue wires from the furnace to the thermostat. Then touched the two blue wires together on furnace and furnace works as it normally would/should. Also tested the two wires from furnace to control box for continuity and they tested good. Any ideas?
