I needed to see this! I have been doing it by hand and using wood chips in between the rows to add organics to my dead soil and keep the walking rows more suitable for working from.

How do you connect the wood to the tiller ?
@YoungbloodFamilyFarm7 ай бұрын
When you watch the video you will see if you look close the metal flap behind the tiller is sandwiched between a 2x6 and a 4x6 screwed into the angle 2x10s. I used timber screw to hold this. I also use a chain to the top of the 3 point to support some of the weight

Do you ever have issues with the sides bending out

I haven’t noticed any, the form isn’t plowing the dirt, the tiller lifts and fluffs, the hiller form just holds it in place. I will also add that the dirt in this garden is fairly light. Clay soil will be a different story

@@YoungbloodFamilyFarm isn't that why we have all those piles of "stuff" our wives hate ... I just built a goat milking stand out of scrap from my "collection" ... (Video to come)

How does the wood attach to the tiller? I suffer from low, wet spots in parts of my garden too.
@YoungbloodFamilyFarm3 жыл бұрын
The back of the tiller has a swinging steel plate that widens as it approaches the ground (imagine a dovetail), I sandwich this plate between 2 boards with timber screws, so it cannot slide off since the plate gets wider

I didn’t get one thing. How did you attach this hiller to the rota tiller ? Sorry for my ignorant question.
@YoungbloodFamilyFarm4 жыл бұрын
Right around the :52 mark, if you look close, the metal flap on the back of the tiller get sandwiched between the “hiller” and a top board. They are lag screwed together. The rear flap is tapered in such a way that the board will not slide off

Here's origional that I can tell... kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWPTkIOVaLaFobc I love how youtube folks share ideas in their videos and get it out there for us. I saw your comment on the origional(I thought) video making this and the guy stating "I'm not going to patent this. I'm sharing it with y'all"(VW Family Farm)...And then I find it again on a very abstract video 8 years earlier. Amazing!...lol. I wonder if this was the origional creator or not...who knows, but again, thanks for a version a smidge different from origional. God Bless!!!

Ha, I do remember VWs video and the one you shared, I figure any great idea out there I’m going to copy and use, that’s why I share. May not try to sell it but I’m sure going to copy it. This hiller has been a real help in our garden protecting us from those real heavy rains
