Is my transmission trashed now? (ZF 4HP18)

@mygodisable2 Hey Debbs. It's that whirring metallic noise close to the start of my video. I think the dealer under filled the transmission so it could be trash now. Time to start looking for another project car. 😁

I am sure they will get to the bottom of the issue. These boxes are tough and good. Perhaps the car is just happier with Dexron.. ✔️

Hi Hilton. Good to see your update. Sorry to hear about the transmission issue. My neighbour had a 2009 C4 and had the gearbox rebuilt around 140,000 miles at a cost of approx 82,000 rand (£3500). After 3 years, even that rebuild did not last and the car was scrapped a few months ago, despite being otherwise immaculate in its gleaming white paintwork. If the Dexron 3 oil change doesn't help, it's probably not worth trying to find the fix due to the cost and the difficulty getting parts (a problem in the UK too).

Sorry to hear - no pun intended - about this issue Hilton. If the Audi dealer doesn't have the knowledge, perhaps you might want to search for independent specialists. However, it looks like it might be best to sale it, which sucks after putting so much money in other repairs

@jaa2772 yeah, I'm pretty gutted because I haven't had a chance to enjoy the car. It's been problems and fixing from day one. I'll give the dealer one last chance to fix it and if the Dexron makes no difference I'll have to dump the car which is sad for me, but no point putting any more money into it.

Nev has a point. Maybe the dextron will be much better. The older cars do not take kindly to synthetic oil so first change back to dextron and maybe the sound will be gone! Holding thumbs!!!!

@wadecamons3844 Thanks. I do hope so, but I think the damage has been don't to this low mileage transmission because I still believe it's under filled and they didn't follow the correct procedures.

Its annoying to see this after you did so much to the car. There was nothing wrong with it before you sent it to Tavcor so they must fix it for you at their cost! Thanks for the great video and sorry for the hassles Tavcor created! Your backgroud music is so snazzy and well suited. You so talented i composing your own music!!

Hi Hilton my mate had exact same problem with his after he had his serviced the gearbox went 3 months later ! But his was a lot noisier then yours is.? Good luck mate
