The difference between this episode and the spongebob one where krabs sells Spongebob's soul for 62 cents is that, in addition to Krabs being remorseful, he is also consistently been shown as a caricature of a penny-pinching cheapskate; it is 100% believable he would sell someone's soul, even for measly pocket change. The resolution is both heartwarming AND hilarious, showing how you can have a genuine moment and still be funny. Meanwhile, PPG2016 wants to promote sisterhood and characterization continuity, but the girls have the consistency of Him's chaos dimension and their sisterhood is even more flimsy than Mr Krabs' Ethics. Also it isn't funny, but that goes without saying at this point.

The fact that HIMs Echo effect in his voice was missing throughout the entire episode is really annoying. At first I didn’t notice but as soon as I did it Was all I could hear or couldn’t hear for that matter. Good review, although I'm surprised you didn't talk about the biggest flaw of this episode. If Blossom's soul is owned by Him, then how does Blossom have any agency in his world? How is she able to do anything that is against the guy and his realm? We saw in Electric Buttercup that he had total control over the girls and they could do nothing against Him. We even saw Him give them the same voice effect to them that he used to have. So there shouldn't be any way for Blossom to even make her business in the chaotic world. I know, lose continuity, but there isn't enough weight put on the fact that Him owns Blossom's soul. She's just trapped in that world and that's about it. Come on, that's lazy. Especially, since it's the main conflict.

Honestly with the premise given. I would've had Blossom earn him's trust and then manipulate Him into getting revenge against her sisters for selling her soul to him for a dollar. Maybe have the whole bobsled event be a trap in which if they lost the race they would've lost the bobsled they bought with that dollar. Him goes along with the plan because it's an extra juicy bit of misery. Yet blossom sneaks into the contract that if she wins she would reclaim her soul back from him. Then in the end when blossom beats her sisters in the race and reclaim her soul back from him. Her sisters lament on how bad they messed up, and as a bit of revenge Blossom sells the bobsled and gets all the money they spent. Which the other girls agree is fair.

Buttercup and Bubbles are complete and total pieces of trash in this episode because not only do they not show a hint of remorse about selling away Blossom's soul but the fact they care so little about her that they don't even really bring her up after the sell her soul show's just how much she really matters to them as a whole. While it''s nice to see that they got their comeuppance in the end I think it would've made far more sense if they started showing regret about selling away Blossom during the race and they decide to drop out and save Blossom to show that they still cared for her ( they'd still be crappy sisters for selling her out in the first place, but it'd be better then what they actually did ). As for Him's dimension, I think it perfectly describes the reboot as a whole in the fact that it lacks creativity and is pretty much just strewn with random jpg images that don't make any sense which lines up with the show's love of random equals funny humor. What I liked about Him's dimension in the original show was that he could literally just sit down in his chair and he'd have a bunch of projections of events that happened in the past, present, and future that he could watch along with crazy destructive live-action images that were shown in the background like trains and planes getting destroyed. It really cemented just how otherworldy and omnipotent he really was and that he was a force to be reckoned with. As for Blossom taking over Him's dimension and organizing everything into a corporation doesn't make a lick of sense because "chaos" is defined as complete disorder and total confusion. It would've made more sense if Blossom changed the company name to something like "Harmony Enterprises " because it lines up more with Blossom's need to keep everything clean and perfectly arranged.

Signing her soul for a dollar... *THIS IS A SPONGEBOB EPISODE* ...and Bart Sells His Soul, and like, a nightmare of character destruction that I am so eager for you to take down in the future. Plus, wouldn't Him be more interested in Bubbles' soul, considering he's kind of "her" villain in the original series? In the original, I saw the girls' more prominent villains as compliments to each other: Princess was all three but probably Buttercup's, Mojo was Blossom's, and Bubbles had Him. The reboot practically slaughters that dynamic. Not to mention, thank you for giving me new appreciation for Him's redesigned lair in the original, reboot.

How to fix this episode: Have HIM say that to get the dollar they have to trade for “what means most to them” and DON’T have him say that it’s Blossom’s soul and have them trade it unknowingly. Show Blossom and HIM’s interactions and after Bubbles and Buttercup’s bobsled hijinks, have them wonder where Blossom went and have them discover what happened only for HIM to show up and gloat to the remaining girls and then have the episode focus on Bubbles and Buttercup trying to rescue Blossom with periodic cutbacks to Blossom and HIM getting up to whatever and then having the other girls find and destroy the contract to free Blossom. Then have the “moral” be to not be so careless and read the fine print OR alternatively, if we wanna keep Blossom’s rise to power over HIM. Keep Bubbles and Buttercup’s rescue but include those cutbacks to Blossom driving HIM to insanity and having to moral be “don’t assume someone is helpless” similar to “A Dog and Pony Show” from Friendship is Magic That would’ve been way more exciting than what we got

How does Blossom have the power to orders to Him? Does she not understand her position? He owns her soul, she is her slave! If he wanted to he could put her in the mail room(honestly that may of been a funny gag if they thought about it). I get what they are going for, similar to what Spongebob did, annoy the one who owns the soul, so that he does give her back. But it feels more like Blossom barges in to Him's dimension and takes over rather than Him owning Blossom's soul. What lesson is that for kids?.... I don't even want to go into THAT! Shadow, I believe the writers of this reboot are part of a certain subset of creatively bankrupt, irreverent, spiteful people who want to tear down and destroy things that are popular. The Powerpuff Girls were created by a man who went on to be critically acclaimed and famous because of that fact, and so they are a symbol of success. The people who were given creative control of this franchise don't have a creative bone in their collective bodies, and are jealous of the success of Craig's idea. So what's their way of getting even? By making his creation into something people HATE, and I think they've been successful at it. The same phenomenon has gone down with all of the most popular things in our culture, and it'll continue as long as people like this are given control.

This is my idea: instead of having Bubbles and Buttercup wishing for a slay, they could have wanted to buy something else, maybe cheaper to make that one dollar seem worth more than it actually is (at least from the girls’ point of view) in order to partake in a competition to win the prize for Blossom because of an upcoming special day for her. When Him arrives, he tells them to trade the one dollar for “the most important thing in the world for them”, without specifying what that is. The girls then, taking “thing” as “object”, would agree, commenting that the most important thing for them is their sister Blossom. Then, I hate that the show would have to rip off something else again, but I think that it would be better if Blossom organized the chaos, making Him increasingly annoyed each time he came by until he’d send her back, undoing the contract. This would happen in the span of a day, or maybe hours, and thus Noone would even notice that Blossom disappeared and would just assume she’s doing something else. This all would then lead to Bubbls and Buttercup giving Blossom the thing they wanted to give her, and her being a little too grateful because of what she’s been through.

I really miss how Him’s voice echoes in this show it’s supposed to show how evil he is as the devil himself and the reboot butchered my favorite villain from the og which is him by the way, it really shows here that the reboot just don’t care for the og villains in this show and it shines bright on how inconsistent they are to him, Princess, and Mojo Jojo here 😭

Simpsons AND Spongebob did it. Also I think the reason we see Him the way he is, is because the PPG reboot staff probably wanted to make Him their version of Discord. which I find to be both unoriginal, because his personality and status is something far more sinister than discord who the MLP staff admitted was based off of Q from star trek who in turn is a trickster character. and while you could argue Him falls under that category, cause Devil and all, we've seen him do things in the original FAR more sinister way than what Q or Discord has done. Him literally took advantage of the girls absence and took over townsville and turned it into a horror show, he also infected the town with a hate plague that turned the girls loved ones against them which is a huge mind screw, and while Discord did attempt that on the MLP staff, that was only done once during his run as a villain and even if you want to argue that Him needed to be toned down for the reboot (for whatever reason) even when Him WASN'T being malicious or sadistic his charismatic personality still made him threatening and he was still competant and never petty. 2 cases that support this He made the girls do all sorts of tasks and riddle solving under a certain amount of time, vaguely telling them how if they don't he'll make the professor pay. At the end of the episode we find out he just made the Professor pay full price for eating his pancakes. what made that work was how Him still kept his air of menace but in the end we find out he was never malicious, he was just a person who provided goods and service to a customer and had a fun wager. 2nd time was in the Beat Alls episode, he kept his charisma and devilish personality but never went full blown Devil on the cast when he could have, he had fun hanging with a group of villains when they all managed to take down the powerpuff girls. It needs no saying, but i'll say it anyways. The reboot, at this point, doesn't care because they were cancelled, they just turned out an episode and that's it. The reboot never cared to have Him (or anyone) be presented the any way shape or form as they were in the original series.

That thing you said about Discord being based off of Q is fitting considering he was voiced by the guy who played Q in TNG.

This episode's a guilty pleasure for me, though it could have been better. I just like the idea of the A plot: Blossom gets her soul sold to Him, goes to his realm, somehow ends up doing a hostile takeover of it, and Him has to be one of her employees in an Office Space parody. Not only is that an interesting role reversal, there's a lot of ideas they could have did with the concept of Hel, er, Chaos Incorporated. It's too bad the rest of the episode is an...well, even "afterthought" implies they thought about it. The whole bobsled plot, at best, feels like an extended joke from the same running joke pile the soundless slippers came from. At worst, it makes Bubbles and Buttercup total jerks, and their actions goes against the "sisterhood" theme of the show. Honestly, after everything they did with Bubbles and Buttercup in the reboot, the biggest surprise for me is that they decided Bubbles could spell her name correctly. (Also, I thought that "yeah, ink" joke was funny.)

Just from the first couple of minutes of this episode, I already consider this the worst episode of the entire ppg reboot. Selling their sister’s soul to the devil with little to no regret? It really feels like this show tries its absolute hardest to be as bad as possible. I can’t even feel satisfied with how bubbles and buttercup get what they deserve in the end because of how little sense it made.
@rhondahoward80253 жыл бұрын
This episode had such an easy fix too. All you had to do was make the stakes more dire. Instead of making the deal center around a stupid bobsled, make it to where the Professor is extremely sick or on his deathbed or something and nothing the girls are doing is making it better. Him offers to make their father well again but in return, one of them has to give up their soul to him. Blossom could actually volunteer to do it instead of having her sisters sell her out and then the rest of the episode could go from there.

When Mr.krabs sold SpongeBob soul for money, it made sense because he's cheap and loves money. Its in character for him to do that. In the reboot, it makes no sense because this doesn't seem like something in character, but rather something they did because the episode demanded they did so

This might honestly might least favorite episode of the season. I really hate Bubbles and Buttercup sell Blossom's soul, and dont even care. Buttercup I get, but Bubbles? The one who tries to be the median between Blossom and Buttercup. The one who is the nicest, and does all she can to be a great sister. I would expect her to have SOME regret, or guilt. But nope. ANd then there is the disregard for Him's power. Dude had the powerpuff girls shook by just doing his workout in his living room. And turned the entireworld to a living hell in a timeline. I mean this is the villain, the girls even threatened to kill once! Yet now he just sees pretty lame. Its just so annoying....

This episode was pathetic in so many ways. What I don’t understand is what they’d trade *their sisters soal* for a dollar. _A freaking dollar._ What happened to family?! Don’t you guys love and care for each other?! This is one of the most stupidest scenarios in the entire season. The other thing that makes this episode a total bummer is the fact that they didn’t even hesitate when agreeing to the deal nor did they regret doing so. I hate the way that Bubbles and Buttercup show _no_sympathy towards Blossom and care more than a stupid sledge is more worthless than a human being, let alone their *sister.* I get that they’re supposed to learn a lesson at the end but come on, you can’t make them this stupid. OG Bubbles and Buttercup would never give up their sister for a dollar that they could literally get _anywhere._ To hell with this episode _and_ the reboot itself, the original is so much better and that’s not an opinion, it’s straight facts.

While the show's writing wasn't that great in the last 2 seasons, it really feels like they're just going through the motions at this point. Who needs any sort of consistency (even when it's something as basic as remembering these characters are superheroes that can fly) or continuity when we can have jokes so obvious you can see them coming a mile away, basic plots done in the way you'd expect them to go, and montages? I'm really curious to see what episodes are going to be on your "best" list for this season, because I can't recall that many that you thought were above average besides Salamander and Save the Date.
