That the plan when mine arrives, hopefully towards the end of next month. A 49 tooth will suit our speed limits here (110kph) any faster can be tiring and distract from viewing the scenery. And I plan to spend as little time on fast roads as possible. Enjoy your channel & what you are up to. Cheers from downunder.

Hi Abhinav this series is very interesting and one stop solution of what mods can make the Himalayan 450 even more fun loving bike. But one question is the Fuelx pro standalone itself will take care of low end torque issues right so what will the sprocket change will provide more to us. Only thing missing is Easy clutch and adjustable clutch levers.

Hi Abhinav, what's the top speed with the sprocket change?
@user-zj2tu1iq5j
@user-zj2tu1iq5j 6 ай бұрын
I am guessing the top speed remains the same. Reason: Most H450 top speed videos on KZbin show the bike not hitting the rev-limiter in top gear, as the overdrive doesn't produce enough, rear-wheel, torque to hit 9k RPM, and only achieves about 8.5K . A 4.25% reduction in gearing will increase the rear-wheel torque, thereby increasing the rev-span on the 6th gear.

I doubt it. Beacuse, you can't change the engine's architecture and fuelling changes can only compensate to a minor extent. It's a short-stroke engine, unlike the undersquare, 1st-gen Himalayan. SS engines have only one real-world advantage over long-stroke ones: higher power output. But this high power comes at the cost of low-end torque. The H450 has a better low-end than the Duke 390. Shorter gearing is the sole option. I think RE built this bike to target the western market where the average, highway crusing-speeds range from 110 to 130 Kmph. @@jeremieyirmeyahu3468

Yeah I second that but I have read that front sprocket downsizing lead to more chain wear.
@Toxic88088
@Toxic88088 6 ай бұрын
While the idea of changing the front sprocket cuz it's easily accessible is good, downsizing the front sprocket creates extreme wear on the chain since the 520 pitch chain has limit to how tight it can turn. The smaller diameter 14T makes the chain go through it tighter radius that it's ment to and smaller diameter Sprocket will make the chain rub on the chain pad more often than not once the chain starts to get looser from wear and tear over the period of usage. So if you're going to keep an eye on it at all times and adjust the chain slack frequently and prepared for the premature wear on chain (which are all race bike maintenance territory) then go for it. I personally have experienced these issues when we raced RC390's and made custom 14T Sprockets for it. The chain would ate through the pad and eventually ate through the aluminium swingarm on the KTM. Too early to guess the fate of Himalayans swingarm tho, but you get the gist.

Thanks for the information. Along with the advantages, what's the drawback of bigger sprocket ? Does it wear the engine due to higher torque demand? And could this devoid warranty ?
@Toxic88088
@Toxic88088 6 ай бұрын
We're not altering the power output of the bike by changing the final drive ratio. We're only altering the peak torque/power in the rev range (early or late depending on the gearing). Don't know about warranty stuff with the RE but it definitely doesn't affect the engine as we're aren't messing with the power output of it in anyway shape of form.
@Suryashenoy
@Suryashenoy 6 ай бұрын
@@Toxic88088 I see. In that case, why didn't RE think of the bigger sprocket to improve the initial torque. Usually that's the RE characteristic right ? They usually don't bother much about the top speed.

@@Suryashenoy tbh no idea why. KTM did the exact same thing as well with the ADV 390. It came with 15/45 setup. Should've came with the 15/47 setup for better low and midrange power delivery. I guess they intended it to be tourer as well and found the 47 on the re to give kinda be good at both on and off-road. They know we'll mod our bikes as well. Lol.

With no laden weight. I think mr abhinav you should guide the viewer honestly as the stock chain does not fit with the change to 49 tooth sprocket. I tried it by fitting the art of motorcycle 49 tooth sprocket. But if you get a MS Sprocket of 49 tooth then two extra chain links have to be added as the chain becomes tight even after making adjustment to the full for slackening it. How you managed the stock chain setup with the 49 tooth is a big question mark? So Pl clarify & correct the loose ends to your youtube video as to its fitment.
