Back in 1974 we used the North Circular almost every weekend for months, to get to and from the M4, as the bank my dad worked for had offered him a promotion that meant we were moving from Woodford Green to Bristol and so we were house hunting... at least my parent were, I just went along to see the place we were going to move to. Back then there were sections of fast single or dual carriageway that would suddenly slow to a crawl in order to pass though some suburb or High Street. The last time I drove the road was about 10 years ago and it had turned into a giant bumper car track, almost every vehicle around me had damage to one or both sides. Fortunately I avoided any bumps and returned home with the car unscathed.

@@NooBiker Tne last time I was in the England more than a few hours was in 1974 and I wasn't on a motorcycle unfortunately. I think my personality lends me to be one those ton up boys but my location kept me from in 1969 when I first got my license

My memories of the NCR date back to the 60's and the Ace Cafe, Noob. The Ace was a bit of a dive then but I understand it's quite a place now and reasonably busy despite Genghis Khan's charges on motorcycles.

There's no charges for current motorcycles, or classic bikes, or any bike that can pass the emissions limits (which is most of them). The Ace is almost the opposite end of town to me so a bit of a hike for overpriced food. Though I've visited a couple of times, I'd rather go to cafés at the end of nice country roads and rides.

We should run a TT on it. They used to go ton-up on the stretch between the Ace Café and Hanger Lane roundabout in the 60s. They used to put a single on in the juke box and see if they could do the loop and get back before it was finished. Not for me, I'm a wuss

Many of us from these parts might have misread the signage in the general area. Not me though. No . Not me. Definitely. The whole bit from Staples Corner sort of area was “ lively “ for half a century. The Iron Bridge at Neasden was quite memorable…
