Darn it Ronin! Just as I got relaxed and content with my Himalayan the way it is, you have to come along with a video like this which is just full of reasons and rationale to do even more to it. I just managed to tell myself that I don't need the K&N filter setup when you put the new silencer on and record the audio. Damn. I want it. I want it all. So I guess when my pension check arrives I'll do some ordering. Another great video for all us Himalayan riders.

I did a poor man's upgrade on my air box until I can get the DNA upgrade. I realized that when I get the upgrade I would not need the stock cover. I took my Dremel and cut a hole in the stock cover inside the lip that inserts into the air filter so all the air still goes thru the filter but straight in. I can tell this shadetree mod makes the bike pull a lot stronger climbing hills and when I crank on the throttle I feel a little surge I didn't feel before. I have a nice cruiser and if I had to only keep one bike it would be the Himalayan. It's my first choice everyday run around bike.

Thanks Ronin! the improved air filter unit and for me, a Delkevic can are on the list for Winter projects. I also need to install the Anti Gravity LI battery. The muffler & battery will drop the weight between 13-15lbs off the bike too! I'll add a PowerTronics unit next year as well. The problem is, we also acquired a new TW200, and that little bike's such a kick to ride, so light & easy to flick around in the dirt compared to the Himi, it's tough to pry my backside off that saddle!

Just got home from an eleven hundred mile stay in the highlands of Scotland, two up with luggage. This is the second time the wife and I have chosen to take our Himmy to Scotland ahead of one of the much more powerful motorcycles in my stable and guess what , the Himmy is going again next year. I have a DNA air filter on my Interceptor and it really makes a difference; so defo now gonna get a DNA air filter for our Himmy. I too would like a lighter and slightly noisier exhaust, not sure what to do, maybe. Lovely vid Jeff. Great how to at the beginning and we could all see and hear the fun you were having on the test ride. One question. Does the Himmy have a learning ECU. So, after fitting the air filter and pipe; do you have to start the bike up and let it tick over for a few minutes without touching the throttle so the bikes ECU takes into account the new parts fitted? Thanks again for the awesome vid man. Ride safe Neil

I have a question about the BAAK muffler. If you sight down the inside is there a baffle in the way or is it a straight clear shot? I loved the looks of that shortie exhaust they made for the 650. If I hadn’t gone with the high pipes that would have been my choice. Also, traditionally a “stage one” is muffler, intake and a tune. Are you running any kind of tuner? Dynojet or Fuel X?

Can't recall if he provided specifics about usage, filter cleaning schedule etc. It's possible the bike owners never cleaned or oiled their filters. Or even realised that was necessary. 25th June was a sad day for me. My 2021 RE Himalayan was sideswiped by a a motorist whilst I was passing needless to say the bike was damaged and so was I. My insurance wrote her off a month later. The good news is, I bought her back from the insurance expecting to pay about 5 or 6K in parts to repair the damage. I was wrong If I replace the tank which has two minor dents in the side where the racks hit the tank, then I'm in for about $1700 all up. If I get my friend who rebuilds motorcycles to repair the tank, he quoted $300 to suck the dings out and respray the tank and replace the decals. Needless to say he going to do the repairs to the tank. The rest is just bolt off and replace. Right now I am hold up was a massive abscess on my leg caused by the impact in the collision. The stock filter flows more than enough air for the Himmi even with the aftermarket exhaust. You could have accomplished most or all of what the K&N setup does by simply drilling out the airbox cover, after removing the intake-horn part.
