Yay! Agreed, we love exploring countries and going to places that aren't typically on the tourist trail. Himare was so beautiful and we were surprised that it wasn't busier. We reckon the best time of year to visit Albania is early June, when it is warm but the summer beach crowds have not yet arrived.

I wish I'd watched this before we arrived. We've only been in Albania a few days, but the first two and a half days I was drinking lots of tap water because I was trying to cleanse my body after drinking so much the week prior. Well I surely got that cleanse! I spend a disconcerting amount of time on the can! 😆

LOVE the video! How livable is Himare? You didn't say how you got from beach to beach, was it by bus (van)? I looking to retire to Albania on a shoe-string budget, Any suggestions? I don't want a car.
@BucketListTravellersАй бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! We walked from beach to beach. There is a track but it is around 5km. It is definitely possible to live in Albania on a shoestring budget, however the public transport is not well developed. If you retire to places like Himare then you will need to rely on vans/buses that pass through the town sporadically and not always to a schedule. That said, Himare is a beautiful spot to live, it has all the basic amenities you need (groceries etc..) and outside of the peak summer period of July-August, it would be very peaceful.
