I really like the non standard stuff. Explorer is really fun and you could do a series where you revisit some of your favorite decks over the past few years but in explorer that would be really cool.

Good one! I returned to magic after a 25 year gap 😅 and found cgb channel who at that time posted a “mill to mythic” deck. I said: no way! But let’s try. And went straight to mythic. Nowadays I can walk again in my own feet and left the netdecker lifestyle but really would enjoy to see he visiting some of his classics

@@daniduc standard often puts out new bombs, that can easily support whole new archetypes. The easiest example is greasefang combol, which would not exist without greasefang herself, and that is true for every single deck that relies around a single card. New standard cards that enter explorer can also help strengthen old synergies that did not quite make the cut for constructed play
@nicholasf98
@nicholasf98 2 жыл бұрын
@@daniduc As mentioned by another comment, the addition of new cards with each new set freshens things up and can create ins for certain synergies, but it’s also worth mentioning that whilst it isn’t a rotating format, Explorer is a moderated one. If they notice that one deck (eg. Greasefang) is over performing in both win rate and appearance rate, it is highly likely they may test what happens to the meta if they restrict Greasefang (restrict being a temporary ban for approximately one set). They do this because a deck like Greasefang hinges on that one card, so by removing that card they invalidate that deck from overpowering everything else. After that restriction of a card, if they like the shift in the Meta they may make the ban permanent so there is more diverse play. There’s also the idea of Explorer Anthologies where they introduce specific cards to counter something they think is too powerful, which is essentially a sub-topic of the “New cards added” point.

I loved that first game And damn honestly. Every time I stop watching these I forget just how good they are. Idk what it is, but your videos are seriously good. I think to myself “do I really want to watch this game I’m not playing rn for 30-60 minutes?” And the answer turns out to be yes, absolutely

It was refreshing and nice to see an actual control mirror in MTGA. Feel like these are so rare to come by with all the midrange and aggro running rampant ATM. I tried to get into commander/historic brawl before but kept losing to like turn 4 combos or turn 3 aggro, made me really hate the format but seeing the control match up made me want to try it again.

Long games of brawl are what I live for. It's so fun digging through your list for answers and see who really thought through the different situations that can pop up. Yeah it's fun winning turn 5 sometimes with a spicy combo, but nothing better than nice long duel.

I love historic brawl but I started with strixhaven so I need way to many wildcards. It would be cool to a brawl deck that is from the last 2 rotations for new players.
@barrosinc
@barrosinc 2 жыл бұрын
@@theomnipotent9402 Thanks! I play a lot of limited, I almost complete sets with the free gold and gems from drafts. But wildcards are not easy to comeby to spend 30 on a historic brawl 100 card draft. I had forgotten about standard brawl with 60 cards. I will see what I can do. I should have all those decks as I have at least one rare of each standard card of the last two rotations.

I love snowborn simulacrum. May I recommend Vadrok? The deck got really powerful with the introduction of some of the alchemy cards allowing you to conjure copies of your mutate pile with doubleteam, snowborn simulacrum and other effects. The deck can struggle against graveyard hate and a piles of removal and countermagic but I definitly battled through quite some control decks already.

I played a super similar deck earlier this week with your almost Tasha HB list. Hit a Thought Distortion while he had only 3 mana up late game, watched him cycle a sharknado before I ripped an entire hand of 8 cards into exile was poetic. Hell of a game tho love control vs control in historic such a chess match if rng doesn't hose you.

I love control match ups. I especially miss the days of MTG when I started out, and watching Esper Control vs. UWR Control match ups at PT RtR. Back when Sphinx’s Revelation was the ideal draw card for control. Those matches lasted forever and were nail biters. Lol. But I was and will forever be a midrange Jund player, so I loved seeing Rakdos’ Return wipe out a control players hand. 😅
