It depend on Ki, if your powerlevel is enough the Ki that radiate from your body will be able to protect you during flight, same as anything you wear or hold. All the Z fighter have the white aura when they fly fast. That's one of the unwritten rules in the Dragon Universe.

Goku had a LOT of techniques he should have taught to everyone. Not just Instant Transmission, but spirit bomb, and kaioken (For the humans and Piccolo) which could have been useful. That's one thing I liked about dragonball, was that some people actually shared techniques, and techniques were learnable by observing (like Goku copying the after-image). But in Z, the only real learned technique passed on was Gohan learning Masenko and everyone who learned Super Saiyan. It's a lot of stupidity that some of the more useful techniques weren't taught, or that the other Z fighters couldn't develop similar techniques. I think it would have been cool if at least Vegeta learned Whis's teleportation in Super, cause at least that way there'd be more teleporting techniques available. But I could go onto a whole rant about techniques that should have been taught to the group, and how some should have gotten or made new techniques.

Hell, Kaioken might have helped Piccolo against Frieza (though not too much as it's doubtful he'd be strong enough to take on final form Frieza even with it). But there's no reason Goku couldn't have taught it to them as he had plenty more chances than King Kai did especially after he got Super Saiyan and they would have needed something to keep up.

I've always thought this couple is rather under-appreciated. It’s one of the few times in DBZ when a relationship is actually built from the ground up and it doesn’t feel awkward or forced. They don’t just instantly fall for one another and suddenly have a kid one time-skip later. As they get to know each other, you can see a natural progression to their interactions where they start to warm up to one another. Not to mention that, when I think about it, they complement each other really well. Videl starts off as arrogant and seemingly bored with the world around her. And you can understand why, what with her being the daughter of the alleged strongest man in the world, nothing would faze her. Gohan introduces her to a reality beyond her imagination. It’s thanks to him that she starts questioning everything that’s been told to her through her entire life. She finds out who really defeated Cell, expands her horizons and becomes more open-minded about what lies out there. And to Gohan, Videl represents a normal human life (well, as normal a life as a superstar’s daughter can give you), which is something he’s never had before. He’s been fighting and putting his life on the line to protect the entire galaxy since he was 4. As such, he has a lot of difficulty adapting to regular human society. Videl approaches him and becomes his bridge to this world as he begins to live in it for the first time in his life. In other words, they introduce one another to their own different worlds, so they share a common experience. Maybe I’m just reading too deeply into this, but that’s how I feel about these two. People complain that the Buu saga is not so good because Gohan becomes a “wuss” who doesn’t fight as much as Goku.
