What are your thoughts on Queen e2 after black takes f4?? (2:15)
@kuyadong67913 жыл бұрын
Would it seem like a mistake by white for giving black a 2-pawn advantage? If Qe2 after f4, black will be ahead in development. This is how the game might go... 1. Qe2 , dxe4 2. Bxf4 , f5 In this position, white becomes passive. Either Qb5 or Qh5, there is an easy c6 or g6 to defend, respectively. Also, black may choose to be in attack mode making the white becomes the one defending. Alternative after 1st move might be this... (2) Qxe4+ , Qe7 - in this 2nd move, not only white had equalized the materials but also threatening to capture the weak f4. However, it is also in this position that black can offer a queen exchange. White queen cannot go anywhere because it is pinned, same goes for black as well. What's fascinating in this position is that this highly favors black. White has to capture the queen immediately or else black will do it furthering his development. So, the continuation would be like this... (3) Qxe7 , Bxe7 (4) Bxf4 , c6 - in this 3rd-4th move, both are absolutely equal. To make story short, Qe2 after exf4 is a risky move for white. It defeats the purpose of gambit.

Hi Kevin, thanks for all the good info. Keep it coming! At ~12:45, you say the knight can't move to c3 because it is defended by the pawn on d4. If dxc3, then Qxd5. Black's queen is undefended. Thoughts?

I would like to know the problems with this as well. To me it just looks like a blundered free Queen..Anyone....?

I play this occassionally. It almost always confuses my opponents, but it's not usually like I get any particular advantage as while. Often the positions that result are rather weird.

I just had this opening as black and got stormed. Feels like a very targeted video. I'm no conspiracy theorist but is google joining the dots between my lichess account and my KZbin account?

If you're still taking requests, could you do a Ryder Gambit video? I know that you already did the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit in which you briefly covered the Ryder Accepted, as well as a Halosar Trap video 11 years ago, but a more in depth video on the Ryder Gambit would be really cool.

@mitchellcrouch5863 жыл бұрын
Such as with any gambit, if you're more aware of the lines that you can go down and more comfortable with the positions, you can easily capitalize on the slightest of inaccuracies made by your opponent.

I just played a game with this opening, I didn't know what to do really after move 2. We both had winning chances at different points, and I missed a forced win via exchange sacrifice and then a mate in 21, pawn ending. It was a pretty fun game, lots of mistakes because it was just an incredibly complex position... I also got distracted and lost about 2 minutes in a 10+5 game, perhaps I would have won if not for severe time pressure in the ending.
