Thank you guys, you are brilliant. I'm from Australia, thank you so much. I'm 54 and I pretty much remember when this happend to me. I had a big night and just slept on one side all night on a hard surface, and basically haven't been the same since. Had scans, X-Ray's, and I've got bursitis, and it is so frickin' painful. The thing is I'm fine standing up, walking around, but when I sit or lie down that's when I feel it the most, I take heavy painkillers to go to sleep.

Wow, thanks for replying, wasn't expecting that! Anyway, went to the physio this week and guess what? They have me doing certain stretches for about half an hour everyday. It's only early days though. But it hasn't got any worse and it does seem somewhat better even in this short space of time.Everyone tends towards the holistic approach these days, no drugs. Anyway, don't have to pay a cent for my first five visits, how good is that? We have that, I don't know what you guys call it (cause you don't have it) "Universal Healthcare" we call it Medicare. Thank you for your videos! I have particular interest in this one as I developed severe hip pains in the last four weeks. I had an x Ray and ultra sound. My GP said I have marked hip arthritis, but that the pain is most likely from Bursitis. That may be right, but there has been no pain or soreness in touching or pressing my hip and hip bone. No reddening or extra warm areas. The (severe) pain felt to me to be more internal. After my pressing him, my GP has reluctantly given me a referral to a Rheumatologist. The pain has lessened with less movement and pain relief. I have encountered this reluctance by GPs to refer to a specialist previously. It always seems a little unprofessional to me. More about their needs than mine!thanks again for your excellent videos. I have not seen anything quite like them before!

Most important is doing your stretches and exercises.it is been hard to find what exercises and stretches to do for bursitis when you've had a hip replacement. This old video just popped up, as I’ve been desperately searching the internet for ways to eliminate hip pain caused by a fall seven months ago. I was getting depressed at how long it’s taking to heal (I’m 66, so I’m sure age is a factor). But hearing you say it could take 12 to 18 months to recover made me feel better. There’s an end game! I will continue to do PT (God, I hate split squats!) and remind myself daily that I will get better. Thanks for the insights and cause for hope. Oh, and a bedside manner tip I learned from my doctor that you may not be aware of; when you’re looking at a patient’s ultrasound and the patient is sitting right next to you but they’re not looking at the monitor because in tv shows this is where everything goes wrong, never blurt out, “Whoa, look at this! You fell hard!” That doesn’t really help. Thanks for this video.

Very informative video!! I've been dealing with bursitis in my right hip off and on now for a few years. I find it interesting that you talk about a clicking hip. I have always been able pop my hips in and out, more on the right though. It's more of something you can feel rather than hear. I used to do it a lot as a teenager because people got a kick out of it. How do you treat a clicking hip and could this be a reason why my hip seems to stay aggravated? I have hyper mobility in my hips, fingers, toes and spine.
@TalkingWithDocs
@TalkingWithDocs 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa. The clicking is often related to the tight band snapping over your greater trochanter. It often has no specific solution however if you are able to stretch out the fascia sometimes the snapping will reduce. Hope that helps. And thanks for watching.

Got a cortisone injection yesterday in my hip. I was so surprised how quickly the pain disappeared. I still "feel" the sensation of discomfort, but no pain. I've had the pain for years but it's gotten worse the last year since I started my new job. Tried everything, physiotherapy, stretching, changing shoes, thinking how my posture is, how I walk - nothing helped. So I'm so thankful for the injection if it works long term with exercise. I'm not even 25 years old so it's very demotivating to have that much pain.

Having disabling pain for 8 months, limping, started to just sit and do nothing so I finally got cortisone injection last week. What a relief! It took outer pain away going down to my knee but all it was affecting my lower back, that is also better. I am hyper mobile as well and my hips "snap" all the time. Still not sure what started it. MRI shows bilateral trochanteric bursitis. I feel like a new women with pain relief and have started doing proper exercises for happy bursa! Thanks for the great video.

It sounds like I am one of the few people who had surgery to remove the bursas from both greater trochanters. I did this because nothing else worked. The surgery was painful but it did help. I've not presented as a "hip' to an ortho nurse practitioner, a PT or ortho PA. No hip involvement was suspected despite my age (73) and my obesity. They took a side view that caught more of my lower spine that only showed slight anterior slippage in the L4-L5. Since I had NO symptoms in my lower legs they just were stumped.However, when they took a front view x-ray of my hip they saw...and I saw...serious arthritis bilaterally. However, I have no signs of a hip problem. The doctors will not do a replacement...which I neither want or think I need...due to my weight, age and comorbidities. However...that is all they are focused on now---my hip. Your video was SUCH a gift to me. I can touch the pain with one finger...right over the trochanter. It radiates down the back of my thigh, across where the thigh and the buttocks connect and, on really bad days, across the top of my thigh in a downward angle...not towards the groin. And hearing how long it can take to heal, oddly, was a comfort to me. Everything I've read said 2-3 weeks. I was getting very discouraged. That helped tremendously. My PT had me biking...bad choice. I continue with as much movement as I can and I'm slowly losing weight the healthy way. That was a very, very long way of saying a GIANT Thank You to you both!!!!!!!!

Thank you - that was really helpful & very informative. Been suffering from right-hand hip bursitis for a while now & been struggling to know what to do. I had been to a chiropractor who has been doing intense deep tissue massage in the area as they said it was the best thing for it following a cortisone injection from my doctor - but of course, now I realise, that was a HUGE mistake to have the deep tissue massage & it has been keeping the problem going. I feel so stupid & foolish in retrospect - but are now seeing a Physiotherapist instead and doing the exercises he has recommended & have already noticed an improvement even though it is very early days. I guess I am making my comment so no-one else does what I did re the deep tissue massage - and to just rely on your doctor and his recommendations: learned my lesson the hard way plus the financial outlay has been very large :-(

I"ve had people advise me to NOT go to a chiropractor and am so glad I took their advise. My husband injured his back and chose to go to a chiropractor who massaged the area, didn't make a x-ray so wonder how he knew what was wrong!! The massage was very painful and did not solve the problem, in fact the pain was worse. Husband went to a surgeon and the problem was solved after a few months of recoup.

Moving into 2024, I was just diagnosed with right hip bursitis. I was told to take Tylenol 3x day, prescription topical cream, referral to hospital for injection. Like you said, X-rays showed minimal arthritis. The only issue will be the very long wait for hospital appointment. Walking doesn’t always hurt more so after an hour or two. Sometimes I’m in severe pain when I get in the house. I just want to sit quietly with a coffee and leg resting on ottoman.

Lisa Gonzalez: I took a bad fall a month ago and my knees broke the fall. In my later years my knees have given me problems, coming from the days when I use to lift weights. I have had cortisone shots to my knees, which helped greatly and also once to my hips, the effects which didn't last that long. So after the fall the knees got better, but I guess from over compensating to keep my knees from hurting, the hips and the ball joint are now causing me really bad pain. I can hardly walk at home without having to hold on to the countertops and furniture. My NSAIDS have not helped any. So, now I'm considering a cortisone(s) shot again, but I've been putting it off. I too have heard that stretching helps. So, are there any specific exercises on KZbin that I could do to help alleviate the pain? I would truly appreciate some guidance! Thank you. -EB
