The way their voices harmonize to these beautiful lyrics is truly heavenly

Dolly and Kenny had the perfect vocals that complemented each other not to mention the chemistry they had together on stage and were very good friends. Dolly has been married to her husband for like sixty years and Kenny was also happily married they were all friends. Their music together was just amazing.

I always find it so endearing when Dolly apologizes for stepping on Kenny's foot. It just brings home these are real people amd not some idol. They are doing the best they can and are not perfect and that somehow enhances my appreciation for what they have accomplished.

Kenny and Dolly have two of the more distinct voices in music, not to mention raw musical instinct, and that made for something really magical when they did these duets.

You’ll enjoy Kenny and Dolly live singing “We’ve got tonight”. He had a hit singing it with Sheena Easton and Dolly teases him - she is hilarious. Their duet is great and the banter brings out their personalities.😍❤️

Dolly just oooozes music and melody. I was able to watch this live in Nashville hired as a seat filler. I saw her do the dress rehearsal too. She is amazing live. She ad libs and they call her " One take Dolly " she nails it first time in the studio or live. You have to go see her live since you admire her so much. I promise you will be even more blown away by her. Song suggestion she recorded...." Ghost Story " it was also recorded by Don Williams. That is a haunting song as is but she just smokes it. Love watching your reaction to these songs and artists.

If you don't know the chorus to "The Gambler", you weren't alive in 1978. Huge hit for Kenny with much more success to follow, including tv and movies.

I remember when Kenny Rogers reinvented himself as a Country Singer. I think he was about 40 yoa. I saw him on the Tonight Show sing "Lucille"or "Ruby" and knew he was gonna be great at Country. He'd been a decent Pop/Rock singer with the First Edition before the switch. But, he really found his niche in country music.

Be aware, if you want more Kenny Rogers, you will be going down a huge rabbit hole. That man has decades worth of great songs. The Gambler is a song that even non fans known the chorus. Coward of the County is another great story song. The first song I remember was Reuben James when Kenny was lead singer for the 1st Edition. Strange looking at that video. Long hair and beard, but no gray.

Kenny Rogers started out a folk singer in the ‘60s in the New Christy Minstrels alongside Barry “Eve Of Destruction” McGuire and the Joe Frank part of Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds. From there he moved into rock with the New Edition, putting out this acidy single called Just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In. (Really showcases the hell out of his voice.). Then along came the country hits. Lucille, (Not to be confused with Chuck Berry’s,) the insanely popular smash The Gambler, “You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, know when to run…” and She Believes In Me, this masterpiece that’s on the Urban Cowboy soundtrack. He also had a bunch of duets with Dottie West along with his work with both Dolly Parton and Sheena Easton. What he had on the charts when I went to work in country radio was Morning Desire, and that was followed with Love Is What We Make it. He did collaborate with Lionel Richie on Lady, of course, and he worked with Barry Gibb & them on this one and the album’s title song, Eyes That See In The Dark which was cut by both Kenny and Barry. It’s a really neat song. Once again, too many to choose from for a reaction video but I’d say it’s between The Gambler and She Believes In Me, or maybe both for the purposes of this channel.

You gotta love people that sing with a smile on their face!! Speaking of "belting out" a song ... Dolly Parton - "Mule Skinner Blues." Reba McEntire is another "smiling singer." "You Lift Me Up to Heaven" and "I'd Rather Ride Around With You."

My favorite love song by Kenny was Buy Me A Rose. Background vocals were by 2 great voices, Alison Krause and Billy Dean. Kenny was 61 at the time and it made him the oldest country singer to have a number 1 hit. (That record was broken 3 years later when Willie Nelson, at age 70, reached number one as a duet with Toby Keith on Beer For My Horses. )
@DjPjrocReacts9112 жыл бұрын
Beer for my horses, got to check that one out.

@@DjPjrocReacts911 Toby Keith was very popular back then and did some clever songs, such as Beer For My Horses. How Do You Like Me Now? and I Ain't As Good As I Once Was. My husband liked Toby because he didn't have to be told who was singing, he could pick out Toby's voice.

Yeah, both Dolly & Kenny have very strongly denied they were ever romantically involved. They've said their friendship was so special, they never wanted to screw it up. In one interview, after saying they'd never crossed the line, Kenny added "we just flirted with each other for 30 years" & he thought that contributed to their chemistry. He added, "I've always been in love with Dolly, in a very safe place."
