Just four blue-collar kids from New Jersey. When their first album "Slippery When Wet" hit, they were in the middle of a tour, opening for other - mostly much Heavier - bands. Their Manager actually pulled them off the tour, chartered them a flight to meet him, and as they got off the plane - so the story goes - met them on the tarmac with envelopes and another four guys in suits, and said "Here. These are your first cheques from the album, and THESE are your Personal Accountants." They left almost immediately thereafter to headline their OWN tour, and ruled 80s Rock from that moment forward.

When you said "this sounds like it's an anthem" - must have been your subconscious speaking from knowing that chorus! "You Give Love A Bad Name" and "Keep The Faith" are also seriously catchy mainstream rock tunes that are now classics of 80s and 90s music respectively. Many tend to disregard pop/rock standards like this and bands like Bon Jovi, either because they consider them too mainstream or that it's not "rock" enough, but I think that's pretty narrow-minded. This is a gem from the 80s and yes, that chorus is anthemic! Kudos to you from this kid of the 70s who grew up on 80s and 90s pop and rock, for opening your ears and mind to much more music - and you're being well rewarded now with all these brilliant riffs, melodies, bands and singers. It's going to continue to be a great journey, so roll with it and enjoy the ride!

Awesome reaction, and imho a first-time reaction. The chorus is so ubiquitous you have to be living under a rock not to have heard it, but listening to it start to finish is a totally different thing. Going forward you'll undoubtedly react to other songs where you've heard the chorus, but don't be so quick to say they're not first-time reactions. I was 16 when this came out, and even though hair bands weren't my thing I liked this song. People poked a little fun at hair bands even back then, but Bon Jovi was always taken seriously because they're talented musicians and Jon Bon Jovi can really sing. And as others have commented, he's a decent human being--even recently talked a woman off a bridge in Nashville. If it helps to contextualize him a bit, his son just married Millie Bobby Brown a few days ago. Keep 'em coming! "You Give Love a Bad Name" would be a great one to check out next.

I have just found your channel and it is now my favorite. I was a young adult in the 80’s and have heard all the music growing up. I am now 58 yrs young and I’m a music fanatic who appreciates all music except opera.. 😂 We had the BEST music ever in the 80’s and I love when these young adults now can appreciate the music WE grew up on. The instruments in the music talked to you. The 80’s ROCKED!! Keep up the good job of discovering the blast we had growing up! 🤟🏼🤟🏼
