Chester is one of the greatest singers of all time. Period. He has this triple layered voice, this higher then normal pitched voice we all love. He can go from a great ballad to an amazing metalsong or he can still perform a ballad like Rolling in the deep by adele(Would love to see you react to that) after more then 1 hour of screaming and scringing and singing! Like how?. Sing like an angel and scream like a beast! I love how you find all the early stuff you listened (except One More light which was a recent song) to already different from eachother as Linkin Park goes way different further into their career. They never stop expirimenting, and thats where mostly Mike Shinoda comes in, he is a mastermind, a workaholic, an Emcee, guitarist, vocalist.. You name it! He writes a big majority of Linkin Park's stuff. Ofcourse Chester has some lyric credits but Mike man, He has it all too. Keep it up with the Live reactions, I just love to listen to Linkin Park live anytime. They haven't won a lot of best live performance awards for nothing! And goodluck on your journey towards 100+ more crazily good, different Linkin Park songs. P.s. LP might be very expirimental in what they do (they literally do what they feel like doing, they don't care about the genre) But if you really want some HIP-HOP Mike Shinoda then go for Fort Minor songs, that was his side project back in 2005, you might know one or two songs of that though if you are a huge hip hop fan but you never linked that to Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park (Can't imagine you havent heard ''Remember the name'' 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will) But you might recognize the voice once you heard about it. Mike is such a workaholic that now the band is exploring what to do next, Mike is the workaholic to keep on working on songs so he is doing a Solo Album at the moment just to have something going on for him and to have something to hold on to and express his feelings. Mike saw Chester as the greatest singer of all time and felt that his whole musical career would fall apart. But he came out of the shadows quickly and he is just as creative and expressive as always. Just without the godlike Chester on his side... But you are not there yet! You have so much good stuff to uncover. Take care!

its extremly hard to hit that note you just cant there is nobody in this century that can do something like him even a producer of meteora said that chester have like 3 different tones and voices in his single voice and that is the strangest thing in the world. Nobody can sing like that and it was proven on linkin park goodbye concert in honor of chester where many stars were singing their songs. They just cannot.

plenty of professional singers can hit a C#5 to E#5, even with that crazy vibrato Chester has. But in order to have the same tonal quality and distortion, you would likely have to be a bright tenor like Chester. Otherwise you'll end up sounding thin and your voice loses character. Other singers out there can pull of similar stuff, but can they go from this Dickinson-esque wailing to a vulnerable, soft vocal take like the pushing my away piano live? Axl rose still sings ballads with a gritty, nasal voice for example, while Chester changes his vocal texture. Many probably can, but can they also pull off the 18 second scream on Given up? It's not like Chester was the most technically acomplished singer out there, how could he? he had NO professional vocal training. It's a testament to his talent how many styles he could pull off regardless.

Singing like that is INSANELY hard. I’ve been singing for years and I’ve only just started being able to sing that high. And combined with the screaming/raspy part of his voice, Chester had so much talent thats barely matched by anyone. His voice definitely lost some power around 2014, but it was still phenomenal and so unique.

Yes, Mike is genius. Singer, rapper (has also his solo project called Fort Minor and now a new side project under his name, his first album is coming next month, already released couple of songs, so you can check them out on his channel), guitarist, keyboardist, composer, producer, graphical artist and a hero, Mike is just all around amazing artist and a great human being. Mike sang backing vocals on many songs, shared lead vocals with Chester on some songs and even had the lead role on some songs. They were pretty much both lead singers. This song isn't really a Mike or Chester song, it's a song of a whole band, from guitars and bass, through samples and drums to the vocals, it's just perfect, one of my favorite songs. Part with the guitar solo at the end isn't included in studio version, it was added later and tends to vary throughout tours and even shows. Hitting notes like Chester was hitting is very hard, he had such a huge range of notes he could hit and he would always hit them right. Due to hate on the band because they were changing styles, Chester wasn't considered by most one of the best singers, but he was extremely versatile, he could hit pretty much anything and he was one of the best, if not the best singer of all time. Linkin Park is the most popular and subscribed rock band on KZbin and most popular rock band on Facebook, I don't get how is it possible he wasn't praised by everyone for his amazing voice

Doing that without literally destroying his voice takes so much skill. I tried to sing along with this and had hard time to speak for a week.

Linkin Park really produced art. They are pioneers in the rap/rock fusion aka "Nu Metal." These guys are real legends, and might be one of most popular bands of all time in terms of how many ppl they reached

Thank u duder...it's so awesome to see new blood getting into this style of music like it's new again. There were a small number of bands during the 90s that simply realized how mixing hip-hop & rock would flow together beautifully because of their common elements. The overall groove, beat & the attitude. Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, Stuck Mojo & POD are just a few examples of how this sound was brought to life. Even before them we had Run DMC & Aerosmith with 'Walk This Way'. And of course there's also the legendary Korn, who are really dark & heavy but if u listen to their stuff, there's one common link. The groove is king & that's because all those guys are also hip-hop heads. Hip-hop & rock were destined to come together...

I like that youre expanding your musical styles. LP was how i got into rock also. Some more info on them: The band was originally Mike's conception; the idea waa to blend genres of rock hip hop rap and metal. Thats why the first album is called hybrid theory (which was the bands name before it became linkim park). And mike writes, raps, plays all instruments, and produces.

Fun fact: this was originally a slow song. During recording, they accidentally upped the tempo to double time. They liked it so much, they decided to keep it this way.

That's hard stuff there...but he isn't screaming from the throat, that's a false chord scream... It's a technique that he has mastered... Screaming takes a lot of practice.... It's his hard work, practice, experience and off course talent.... A lot of singers can scream but it's also about the screaming tone and the melody to it.... Chester's voice texture is what makes it special

Linkin Park is my favourite band of all time and it broke my heart when Chester passed away... But i got a chance to see them live and it was actually this concert at Rock am Ring, it was so amazing and awesome to be there and had them watched live once in my lifetime!

What Chester is actually famous for is his ability to add tonality and Harmony to his screaming. Pair that with his range and that weird vibrato he has and you have a formula for an amazing singer.
