Not only the multiple guitars, but that bass guitar line holds it down, and then it joins the guitars on the riffs and runs so it's all in unison. Which gives the whole thing a whole lot more punch, even down through the bass end of the frequency spectrum. It's a great early seventies rock sound. 😎
@mightyneponset15603 сағат бұрын
Absolutely, Steve, the bass is freaking kicking it for the entire song, weaving in and out, and taking it down low and …
@stevedahlberg86803 сағат бұрын
@mightyneponset1560 And we absolutely cannot overlook how the bass line handles what sounds like a fun, whimsical disco section in the first iteration, but later it turns into truly hardcore rock-funk. I saw them live in the late 70s, and of course they did this - in fact I think it was the encore, but you could tell it was loose and playful. They were just a really great tight rock band. And I absolutely love their first album. I love every song on it. The huge hit from it is "I Just Want to Make Love to You. And it seems like there was another hit off of that. But I absolutely love the song "Trouble, Trouble", which was introduced to me in a rock band I played in briefly in high school before moving away, and it's still one of my favorites. But my absolute favorite Foghat tune of all times is their Chuck Berry cover of "Maybelline" that closes out that first album. It's such a jam, and the energy is just relentless and amazing, and the display of musicianship is just otherworldly. ❤️

This huge hit from 1975 was one of the songs you'd regularly hear blasting out of people's cars in the mid-seventies, along with songs like "Feel Like Making Love" by Bad Company (1975), "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith (1975), and lots of Led Zeppelin. It instantly takes me back to my older cousin's ice blue mid-seventies Chevy Blazer with ice blue crushed velour upholstery and ear-splitting, crystal clear sound system.
