@SlasheraX7 ай бұрын
"i wonder out where you cant see" - the beginning lyric you got goosebumps to - shows the power of studio vocal layering with harmonies. Theres 2 vocal lines, both by Corey. Here how the end of one take carries longer (the harmony) and you hear him say "see" for longer(?). Along with in studio vocal enhancement (reverb) (not autotune). Yes, Corey is a good singer. He can rap but most dont see the rap coz of the hardness of the music. Corey, in the early days, did his thing. He eventually blew his throat out and couldnt keep up the intensity. He enlisted the help of renound vocal coach, Melissa Cross. She helped him learn how to sing properly. Cross now teaches how to "scream" but her background is opera. Now Corey can carry his vox live. He now has problems and cant keep doing all this intense stuff. Singing isnt his problem, his body is slowly breaking down. He was in the band 'Stone Sour' before Slipknot. Now Stone Sour are a big band. If you wana hear Corey being as raw as possible listen to 'Snuff' live. Corey and just an acoustic guitar. Moving and pure emotion. Peace 🤘🏻 Oh, and the mask thing was purely a gimmick. For a long time nobody knew who they were. First ever video they did without masks was 'Before i Forget' but they were still obscured. Masks can make famous peoples lives easier for obvious reasons but eventually we saw who they were.

I was raised with Slipknot. These guys are in their 50's now and still doing music. In case ur wondering about the masks, they each have a barcode number and a signature style mask that changes every album. U found an old album video when all 9 were alive and in their energetic peak. I personally advise reviewing the song called "Finale" in their new album to see their changes.

Long response on the origin of the masks- one of the members (Shawn crahan) had an old clown mask laying around, and he wore it to band practice and he ended liking it so much he wore it during shows and (he said in an interview he liked it because he felt like people couldn’t see how much pain he was in) the other members asked him to take it off but clown said no, so the other members started wearing them too. We do see what they actually look like in real life, and they make new masks/update their masks for the release of each album. Also, the drummer is Joey Jordison who is no longer the drummer because he passed away in 2021, but he left slipknot before that because he had a medical condition that made it so he couldn’t play the drums anymore, but he was in muder dolls after he left slipknot, and you should definitely check them out. :)
