It was like this for us Gen-Xers. Remember, we didn't have internet or cell phones. Weekend plans were frequently driving around between parties or looking for parties. If we wanted to take pictures, we had to get the film developed. This is a VERY nostalgic video for us. 😊

1997 was my best summer, I was 20 and every night I just walked to town, no plan but that's where everybody met every night. I'd arrive about 7pm and get home around 1. Just hanging out on the streets. I met my current best friends during that summer.

Billy Corgan is not only the lead singer, he can play any of the instruments, he writes all of the lyrics and puts together the musical compositions. He has written songs for other musicians. His voice is one of those "love it or hate it" kind of voices, but I absolutely love it ❤ This song, 1979, is supposed to make you have that feeling of nostalgia.

Billy Corgan's voice can be divisive. Some people don't like it. I love it because of exactly what you said. "It fits perfectly with their songs." 1979 just makes you feel like you're a kid running around with your friends before life gets serious and crushes your spirit.🤘

In 1980, I had a high school graduation party in my back yard. My parents went out for the evening. My friend's band played, and covered The Beatle's Abbey Road album and Blue Oyster Cult's song "Burning for You". Cops came 3 times asking us to break it up, but mom and dad were home for the 3rd visit, and convinced the cops to let the band finish the set in exchange for the band cutting the volume from 11 down to about 8.

I went to uni in So Cal in the mid 90's. The parties were like this. I went to a party at UC Santa Barbara. Imagine that party in the video and then multiply it buy 100. 10 - 15 square blocks of college students living in one area, a party like that every few houses. You just walk all night going to different parties. It was unreal!

Try Disarm... That one is completely different than the two you have already listened to. These guys are diverse and amazing. Disarm gives me tears.
