All the lead part you hear in this song is all done by James Hetfield (rhythm guitar/singer) and Kirk Hammett (lead guitar)... Especially the part where transition start. around 9:55 that lead part was played by James Hetfield and the second solo which is the fast solo part is played by Kirk Hammett the lead guitarist.

Dope. Thanks for explaining because its pretty hard for me right now to figure out whos playing which guitar. To answer the gentleman on the left’s question at 10:12 that solo is just a regular guitar, but yeah cliff would play a lot of the higher-up notes on bass and with effects and distortion, it does sound a lot like a regular guitar- that’s how Metallica discovered him, they saw him with his band and heard him playing his bass and soloing and straight up thought they were hearing an insane regular guitar solo, when they learned it was bass they pestered him for like 6 months to join Metallica Oh but to answer the main question that solo is one of the few solos that the lead singer does (he does one at end of nothing else matters also but the rest of the time it’s usually the lead guitarist Kirk Hammett)
@simonrobinson103 жыл бұрын
PS - lead guitar is Kirk Hamnett (although singer James Hetfield also plays lead sometimes, but is mainly rythymn guitar) Cliff Burton (RIP) is on bass Lars Ulrich on drums

Also to answer your question, no that wasn't Cliff, that was Kirk. But y'all should check out Orion and The Call of Ktulu for some Cliff Burton mastery. Those are both instrumentals that *heavily* feature Cliff. Edit: also yes, you can 100% cut yourself on guitar strings; Kirk used to do exactly that and so now he wears tape on his hand to prevent it
