They were always faster and sharper than Metallica, while Metallica were heavier and thicker, with a rawer approach.. Megadeth were fast, complex but at the same time punkier at some degree.. Somehow they always managed to stay direct and to the point through all this brilliant mayhem.. Metallica on the other hand were more pounding, with a big heavy sound and downpicking bulldozing riffs and also with their own style on harmonizing their songs.. They both have their merits and wrote tons of great music.. But Megadeth were always more challenging to the listener as they were challenging to the musician

Marty Friedman's finest hour. A goddamn piece of art. And, excuse my french, a solo Kirk Hammett couldn't even think to play in his wildest dreams.
@craighenry95122 жыл бұрын
But Dave Mustaine might be able to. That is the difference, musically, between the two bands at their peak. James Hetfield is a good guitarist, but is not on the level of the other three. Kirk Hammett is a superior guitarist, but both Dave and Marty are better than he is. In fact, Marty is the only guitarist in Megadeth who might be better than Dave. But, even if he isn’t, Dave ( As good as he is), has never been afraid to let his other guitarist shine and Marty sure does here.

For about 5 years as a child, all I listened to was Metallica. Then I bought the soundtrack to the movie Last Action Hero with Arnold Schwarzenegger and “Angry Again” by }{V}{EGADET}{=}{ was on there and for about 2 years, I was like Metallica who? Lol. That was 25 years ago. Now I love both bands equally, but Metallica’s first 4 albums always seemed to just be beefier than any of the other big 4 bands. Megadeth was more technical and had a sharper edge, Slayer was Evil and fast, and Anthrax was just fun to listen to. Exodus is another contender with the beefiness though. Gary Holt is a of a guitarist.
