Dave was kicked out Metallica for drug use/unreliability. He started Megadeth but couldn't find a singer so he decided to do the vocals himself. The big 4 live together at Sonisphere would be a dope reaction.

Wrong Dave got kicked out because he was a violent drunk. To say in a public forum like this that he got kicked out for drugs and unreliability is bullshit and disrespectful. The band didn’t care that he was violent until that violence was directed at the band members. The final decision was made to kick him out when Cliff was complaining that Dave’s pit bull puppy was trying to chew on his bass guitars and complained to James Hetfield who walked up to the dog and kicked it really hard and Dave seeing this got pissed and confronted James who was mouthing off about his drinking and dog and Dave knocked his ass out. Dave didn’t get heavy into drugs until he hired Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson whom all had drug addiction issues.

But I'll take Dave's actual stated reasons in numerous interviews he's given over the decades as well as the literal verbiage in his book. He was so unreliable that he traveled all the way to New York to get kicked out and have to take a bus back to California. Metallica were broke homeless bums living in a studio apartment that Anthrax let them crash in. They barely had enough money for cigarettes and food. They burned beer and liquor from friends and other bands they would socialize with. Everybody did drugs and drank back then. You people are calling Dave a drug addict and claiming that was the reason he got kicked out. He was fucken 19 when he joined the band. He had a drinking problem that caused him to be violent. Every time here in LA you would hear about Lars getting punked and picked on by Glam Rock fans or James would get into it with them as well it was Dave who would get into fights defending them. Lars and James didn’t come from the same background as Dave so they were soft. Anyway not worth wasting time on this bullshit.

James and Lars stuck Dave on a bus back in 1983 and sent him back to California. They were sick of his violent and abrasive nature he was displaying. He had a huge drug and alcohol problem. He wrote a few songs on the back of a pizza box on his way back to California and vowed to start his own band. And we can all see how that turned out. It was meant to be. You guys blow me away everyday!!! Thanks for being there!!! Great reaction!!!

Hands down the best thrash metal album of all time....30+ years and running. The "thing" that sets Megadeth apart from other thrash bands is the influence of progressive rock, jazz fusion and swing. If you do a deep dive on the personnel over the years and different lineups, you will see what I mean. Metallica will win a lot of popularity contests, but they are nowhere near the level of musicianship as Megadeth....not now, not ever.

The big 4 did performed together on stage before, a few times... but I think one of the songs were "Am I Evil" which was a Diamond Head cover. Dave also did guested on some Metallica stages in the past.

Dave was kicked out because James and Lars saw he was on a path of self destruction and they thought he’d end up killing himself or possibly them while he didn’t appear on any of their albums he helped write the majority of the album Kill Em All and is credited on a few songs from the Ride the Lightning album

I was lucky enough to see the first and only Big Four performance in the UK at Sonisphere Festival 2011, and let me tell you as a metal head that was a dream come true, truly something you never thought you'd see.

In 2010 the big four did a tour together, touring stadiums. The clip that you're thinking of Smokey; is all the bands together on stage performing Diamond Head's "Am I Evil?". Which was a cover song that Metallica did on an EP back in the day. Everybody from the various bands performed except for three members of Slayer who chose to not participate, but their drummer Dave Lombardo, did join in.

Dave Mustaine co wrote many of the songs in Metallica's first album, Kill em All. He was kicked out of the band due to personal issues (Drugs, alcohol). The big four tour took place around 2009 and the song all the bands played together is a cover of the song Am I Evil by Diamond Head, which Metallica regularly plays in their shows.

"Humanicide" by Death Angel is a more modern "old" sounding thrash song. Death Angel was around in the '80s but broke up in '91. They reformed in '01 and this song is off there 2019 album of the same name.

I love this song so much. To me, it's all about a moment of clarity for an addict. The song begins with him realizing he's the cause of all his problems, that his drug abuse is undoing him. It's followed by a brief moment of hope and optimism (the eye of the tornado) and then back into the hell at the end. It's perfect.
