Yeah Rick, I'm sorry that you teach English too. I don't care if you're an English prof at Oxford it's the same spelling and sound when spoken as a rhyming couplet. So get the fuck over it, Ozzy rhymed masses and masses. Nobody said they had the same definition. That's pedantry mixed with sophistry pal. NachoFast said it was a rhyming issue, not a definition issue. Step away from the straw man.

I actually believe Johnny Cash was the original metal. Distort the guitars and speed it up slightly and it's metal af. He's a man dresses in black singing about drugs and violence with triplets and solos throughout. His voice was low like in metal. He just had only country to base it off of so it has that vibe and classification. Johnny Cash is where metal began. Sabbath created a conflagration from the spark. That's what I believe anyways. Ozzy is in his own league though.
@lightningstudios95596 жыл бұрын
@@burningstar1793 Wrong, Johny Cash was actually a mix of country and blues, but had some rock combined too . (Or at least some beta version) Rock's roots actually go far as back as the 40's, 30's, and even the 20's ! The invention of electric guitars and distortion heavily contributed to the evolution of rock . Rock turned into the rock we know today during the 70's and 80's . The Beatles and many more contributed to the formation of popular music and rock as we know it . Sorry about this. I'm kinda a music nerd.

Sabbath distinguished themselves with lyrics, and basically developed Metal as we know it along the way, but instrumentally they started out sounding a *lot* like the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Pretty much in the modern history of music, there are only two perfect examples of a creator happily gifting a song to a cover artist based solely on recognition of their talent with that song: 1) Dylan handing "Watchtower" over to Jimi, and 2) Trent Reznor handing "Hurt" over to Johnny Cash.

This is one of those songs (and bands) that really inspired me to pick up the guitar and expand my musical experience. Such an amazing song! I’m very happy to see you experiencing the forefathers of metal! It reminds me a lot of myself when I was first listening to hard rock and metal bands! Love the vids, Alex. Keep em coming! P.S. Please react to some damn Erra already bruh! Do either Drift, The Hypnotist, or Hybrid Earth. Been waiting for it forever!

I saw Black Sabbath in Calgary for The End tour. When they played this song Ozzy sang a line then pointed the mic at the crowd and i swear everyone in the Saddledome sang the next line almost perfectly. It gives me goosebumps every time i think about it.

Some of the most badass lyrics ever imo "Day of judgment God is calling, on their knees the war pigs crawling, begging mercy for their sins, Satan laughing spreads his wings"

Such a great song, I feel that Metal, more than a lot of other styles of music does such a good job about actually covering important topics and telling a story. If you are looking for another classic metal experiance a definate must listen to imo is King Diamond. I'm also waiting on a Pink Floyd reaction. Keep it up dude, you got the best reactions on the internet.

song still completely relevant. US military spending still insanely high - trillions of dollars spent bombing a 3rd world desert. Military lobby the largest lobby group in the US, and so the war machine keeps churning.

Welcome to the band that just influence but created the music genre we know as heavy metal and that every band since in that genre in indebted to on vocals the one and only Mr Ozzy Osbourne on lead guitar the riff king Tony Iommi, banging the bass Mr. Geezer Butler and smashing the drums to smithereens the great Mr. Bill Ward.

The only "heavy metal" when this came out was called Cadillac. That being said, when asked for my opinion on the best song ever in my generation this one has topped the list not only for the "musicality" but the message. Satan laughing...spread his wings.
