@@shl990 Yeah, one of the 7 deadly sins. But rooms mean not sins, but 8 types of madness. 1) Sid - split mind, 2) Joey - narcissism, 3) Craig - addiction, 4) Paul - paranoia, 5) Shawn - pervertion, 6) Mick - self isolation, 7) James - sexual shame, may be sex addiction, 8) Chris - unrequited love. And Corey, who went throgh all this "rooms".

My favourite was their self titled album. I have fond memories of leaping around my room as a 14 year old, headbanging and loving it. Iowa was superb, an excellent follow up. Their latest album, We are not you kind, is a masterpiece. All hope is gone, and Vol.3 never really grabbed me. No idea why. They just didn't get me pumped the way Slipknot, Iowa and We Are Not Your Kind do.

I totally agree with you. A few years ago, I never thought I'd be a Slipknot fan. I'll admit it was out of complete ignorance. But, once I saw them live (I was actually there to see another band) I immediately fell in love. I became a fan just from their live show and even bought every single album that week.

This is a very interesting song by Slipknot. The lyrics are very introspective, which is no surprise because Taylor is a beast at writing a song. Interesting that not many people here that I have found are reacting to the song itself, just blasting reaction requests. The video really catches you, as you see Taylor go from room to room, experiencing these "parts" of him that have made his life, and each band-member represents, it seems, a portion of him that he has experienced or has within him. All in all, this video is amazing in terms of its concept and how it flows with the music. This is a reason why Slipknot is really good at what they do. They craft amazing music that is both deep and heavy, and they craft music videos that reflect each song perfectly. Props to this reaction channel! Alex does the best job at reacting, and he also does his research as well. He's not like a lot of reactors out there who just listen to it and blah-blah through out. He gives a great analysis of the song/video. A+
@JMulvy5 жыл бұрын
Just for reference; whenever Slipknot digs or buries things in a music video it is a reference to the past. When this video came out I was always afraid that the band was going to break up. It was like each member had a role to play and some of them either abandoned those roles or created new personas. It is hard enough to keep harmony in a band of 4 or 5 but Slipknot has NINE members (officially). The video could be seen as a farewell to their former personas (like they do in a couple of their videos, with new masks or looks) but if you scratch the surface you find that Joey especially was a bit problematic. He basically wanted the fame and recognition that Corey had (even though the fans knew how legendary of a drummer he really was) and went off to join the band Murderdolls (never just one instrument either. on some tracks he did bass, guitar, back up vocals or drums). The mirror in the video is an obvious acknowledgment of his envy of wanting to be more like Corey. Shawn, on the other hand, was one of the more recognizable members and saw a lot of fame just for being "the clown", probably why he never really deviated from the clown appearance. Jim was quickly becoming the 'ladies favorite' and the rest of them I don't really know. Knowing what we know now about Paul (RIP), maybe he was hard to connect with, always isolating himself? I always felt like Sid was a mascot of sorts, or the Slipknot pet because he was always in the background, putting the spotlight on himself, hyping up the crowd, and getting injured for it repeatedly. Lastly, we have Chris and Mick. My guess is that when Corey was thinking of leaving the band or the band was looking to break up, Mick is the one that prevented it, which is why it looks like Corey can't get past him in what looks like an EXIT of sorts. With Chris, I see him as the Book Keeper of the band. He is the one that lights the candle for something or someone, he tells the stories, and he records it all. For another video where someone is getting buried check out "Left Behind" (can't remember if you have or not) but it is about the people Corey knew when he was homeless, and how HE left them behind in the wake of his fame.

This album was the first metal album I've ever heard/owned (back in 2008) and it's still amazing; timeless. This song is featured in an NHL video game as well, but I can't remember which. I've noticed that I find myself listening to albums from earlier in my life and especially enjoying the tracks that I mostly skipped back in the day. "Vendetta" on this album is one of those tracks. It's riffs are so good. The same thing happened with the songs "Holes in the Void" and "Harvest the Garden" on Mushroomhead's 2010 album. Fantastic music, especially when you're in the right mood.

My favorite interpretation of the video is that each room symbolizes a negative aspect of life that you need to overcome. in the order the rooms appear in the video they are: anxiety, selfishness, loneliness, agression, lust, failure, chaos and revenge. corey himself could be aimlessness, walking from one room to another without knowing where he is and why this is happening.

This is my go to song whenever I get heartbroken or start missing someone that I used to like, and sadly I've listened to it a lot. But it's helped me get through some shit, and it's a beautifully written song The music video was meant to show off the band members' new masks (at the time). I guess the symbolism there was that they were burying not only their old masks but also their old selves and all the dead memories that came with them
