When I got out of the Navy,my Division Officer said that I never would have made it to the end of my enlistment if one of the Petty Officers hadn't held my feet to the fire. I would have punched him out too but I showed a rare fit of maturity & walked away from it. And my evaluation reports always checked the "Not Observed" box for Military Discipline. If I hadn't shown any, I'd have been in trouble a lot more for insubordination.

I heard this song for the first time ever today, on Sirius XM, channel 59 or 60 I don't recall. Anyway, I didn't get to hear the whole thing because I had to go back into the store, the pizza place I work for. Just got off work, just listen to the rest of the song, it is a total riot! I love it! I cannot believe I never heard this song before now. And I've been around a while.

On this day in 1972 {November 5th} "Oney" by Johnny Cash peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, the first week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "My Man" by Tammy Wynette, and for it's second week at #2, "She's Too Good To Be Be True" by Charley Pride was in the top spot... It just missed making Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart when it peaked at #101 on Billboard's Bubbling Under the Top 100 chart... Between 1955 and 2003 the Kingsland, Arkansas native had one hundred-twelve records on the Billboard Country charts, forty-four made the Top 10 with thirteen reaching #1, plus he had seven peak at #2... Ten of his 112 charted records were duets, eight with June Carter Cash and two with Waylon Jennings... He had three charted records as a member of the super quartet, The Highwaymen... 'The Man in Black' passed away at the age of 71 on September 12th, 2003... May Mr. Cash, June Carter Cash {1929 - 2003} and Waylon Jennings {1937 - 2002} all R.I.P.

Personal preference or perhaps JC's association with drugs. Except in a rare moment, I don't even remember my uncle having a glass of wine. People do and think things for reasons they never tell. Ironic since he loved Hank, a rampant alcoholic and drug user.

@jeffandmatilda Luther Perkins,wasn't 2nd,but 1st. Gene Wooten,took Luther's place,after he died from results of his house fire. Gene,stayed with Cash,until Cash, died. Carl Perkins,no relation to Luther Perkins,joined in the late 1960's,playing lead on "Boy Named Sue",and wrote "Daddy Sang Bass",which Johnny,recorded while Carl was his his band. Johnny,w'd let Carl,do his hits "Blue Suede Shoes" & "Honey Don't" at every Johnny Cash Concert. There's videos of Carl,in the band,on youtube.

@kylelikeskjvbible9 жыл бұрын
+Beechcraft746 during the rhythm parts it sounds like muted (maybe flatwound strings), clean guitar, maybe a little mild slapback delay (at the lowest settings if it is even on at all), but in one rare recording i heard what sounded like mild phaser or leslie speaker when he did this song.
