How would I ever close a fridge door without a stupid app that actually only works when you have a dedicated tech support team?

How many times did she have to present that??? Tech is helpful but I can already see failure when the app gets updated and features and settings add to the confusion for end users.

She just needed to show it once to my camera, now the whole world can watch it from their "not so smart" home.

@@charbax From their "not so technology dependent" homes ;) I'm sure the lazy rich will buy into this, but will probably spend most of their time calling tech support when an 'update' causes confusion or something 'doesn't work'.

@@teinspringz most people are wasting hours every day on mundane home chores, stuff like cooking, dish washing, washing clothes, washing floors, cleaning windows, picking up children from school, bringing children to stuff, groceries shopping, nobody likes doing that. I mean if you really love cooking, go ahead. But most people would love to automate as much of that as possible. Many of these we've had the technologies to automate for more than 2 decades, just nobody has packaged it all in any easy to implement in a meaningful way that the mass market easily can buy into. Big companies need to get on their high horses and implement all the common sense stuff and people will buy it and love it and people will only always ask for more. Technology must be simple, natural and easy for everybody to use.

@@charbax In the past, the people of that era had this technology. Called butlers and maids. If anything, big companies should invest in competent programmers and engineers who create robust solutions to begin with, so consumers can trust the product and willing to invest in it. Did Hisense Gorenje say what warranty and support they would offer for the system? I would think at least 10+ years for big ticket whitegood items like oven and fridge. Most big companies are churning out more and more products that add to the stockpiles of junk and creating more and more waste. Growing toxic waste, overconsumption and global warming, and we also have humanitarian crisis with refugees. Why can't we solve it by having butlers and maids instead.

@@teinspringz I think they probably offer something like 10+ year warranty. Gorenje is a major appliance manufacturer with a continent-wide market share of 4%, it is one of the eight largest manufacturers of home appliances in Europe. I think the overall quality and durability of all these appliances can be trusted. Hisense the parent company to Gorenje is like among the top-3 or top-4 largest TV brands in the world.

Yeah she is pro but i still do not fide a reason to install all this in my home...i mean..i can torn do all this by my self pressing a button or write me a note with a pencil...
@charbax
@charbax 4 жыл бұрын
you could install it all at your home, or home developers can decide to pre-install it all in all the new homes that they are building out there. Some potential home buyer or potential renters can get quite the "selling point" of choosing the Smart house where all the pre-installed appliances are all connected, rather than choosing just the old fashioned regular house. And if the home appliance makers like Hisense/Gorenje can get on board to all use the same smart home systems that would make things easier.

@@charbax so just marketing ...
@charbax

@@SweetCherryGrower marketing is product management which is the overall strategic boss really. When done right. Good marketing knows what the users want, and then gives it to them, and the users they use it and are happy at the end of it. There's a huge potential with IoT and Smart Home, but the marketing people need to do their jobs right.
