Only Machi knows about texture surprise in the troupe. But she is interpreting it as"something that decorates Hisoka's body", she doesn't know that Hisoka can reproduce more than 1000 textures such as paper and ink. Manga mentioned about this, but removed in the anime.

I seriously doubt only Machi knows, I don't remember that ever being mentioned in the manga so if it is, please correct me. Hisoka's matches are recorded and you can see nen through tape and Hisoka made it a point that he is still as strong when he's in the open. If Machi is familiar enough to know the name of the technic, I doubt no one else in the troupe knows it. I think Hisoka's actions are more consistent with the troupe knowing about texture surprise. He could invent any prophecy he wanted as long as the prophecy said "the troupe should remain in York Shin" so why would he make one that would turn the troupe against him? It only makes sense if they know about texture surprise. He made a disadvantageous prophecy because no one would suspect him to make one. He made something that no one in the troupe would suspect he would make up. And sure it could be for Machi's benefit alone but in that case it means that she at least knows he can recreate more than skin, otherwise he wouldn't have gone through all that trouble. Also, for god's sake it's called texture surprise, the functioning of the ability is literally in the name, Machi can't not know it does more than skin.

I never read the manga but something I realized after watching Machi and Hisoka’s talking about Kastro fight Machi is a nen master and a doctor of the troupe and has known Hisoka for years so she thinks she can identify texture surprise after a close examination but she hasn’t realized Hisoka’s tatoo is on fake skin (texture surprise)

This is one of the reason Hisoka is my favorite character in the entire series, he's great at fooling people, and creating a plan very quick.

In the Manga, it's specifically noted by the narrator that while Machi was the only one within the Troupe who knew about Texture Surprise, she thought that he could only use it to cover for his own body. Also, in the Manga Kurapika explains why placing the chain on the 3 of them would be a bad idea, since if the condition was about being touched by Pakunoda, they would die regardless of whether she was checking for memories or not, and that is just an unnecessary risk.

I assume that the Troupe didn't check Hisoka's prophecy for Nen because they already expected all prophecies to have Nen from Neon's ability. For them to notice, someone would have had to check both Hisoka's and someone else's for differences in Nen because they doubted him specifically. It might have happened in a 1 on 1 situation, but in this case the group was distracted twice: by Nobunaga's attack and by Chrollo's questioning and analysis. Both hot headed and collected characters were represented with this two reactions, so no one else felt the need to press further.

Also the Troupe puts high regard into Chrollo's actions and words. The prophecies were made by him, and he told them that they were 100% accurate. Also Machi doesn't know that Texture Surprise can be used as more than a skin colored cover sticker. Also as you mentioned she was focused like the rest of them on the betrayal of Hisoka, in Nobunaga's murder intent and Chrollo's deductions. Hisoka is a genius.

this one is almost unperceptive, the tatoo is a scarf glue with bungee gum that have the visual of skin, but still the texture of a scarf, if only she would accept to bang him, she would have notice. but the prediction, he just change the visual of the paper, it's still paper, same texture, not even sure Gyo would be efficient since the paper is already full of nen due to the fortune ability

6:55 not only that, but its the fact that he did it so fast that not even the Phantom Troupe members could catch it. Not only that but he's also mixing truths with lies, making it a double layer of protection. He's giving away just enough juicy information with the fortune telling power, something he knows Chrollo knows that the Chain User can't know HE is in the possession of. That the power the Chain User have can't foretell and is supposedly "exposed" by, allowing Hisoka to tell the other members that he is influenced without explicity doing so. The writing in this is just amazing and the fact that Hisoka did this in mere moments is what makes him scary and interesting to me.

kurapika didnt change and modify his power. His blade is to set a rule to a person and if this person dont follow they will die, so kurapika instead use the blade on him to only work on spider he put the chain jail to only work on spider. His power is the blade that can set a rule, he didnt change that, he just change his mind before put the rule on himself

Another thing that makes Hisoka's gamble good and makes his whole story believable is that he himself asked for his fortune to be checked. Chrollo caught on that, and it's safe to assume that if Hisoka was truly a traitor, he would never volunteer to get his fortune done.

Gyo doesn't help you see Texture Surprise. Gyo only helps you see nen-constructs hidden by In. Texture is just whatever it's turned into at the moment. En only helps you know the presence and location of something in your range.

Remember when Gon and Killua used Gyo to see aura on the artefacts in the market and In wasn't used on them, they saw the normal aura used to make them ... texture surprise is a nen technique used on an object so Gyo should be helpful to see it, especially if Hisoka used In to conceal it and he probably did since Nobu didn't see anything in fight mode (in the Hisoka VS Kastro fight when they used Gyo they saw the handkerchief covered by texture surprise and In that Hisoka threw to the ceiling) ...my understanding is that people see the opponent's aura and its fluctuations during combat bc Ren is activated so the eyes are 'open' as well... so In is needed to conceal (zetsuing^^) the aura you want to hide specifically... so to detect In they'll need to adjust the Ren and focus most of the aura on the eyes=Gyo, but when they're not fighting most people wouldn't use Gyo without a good reason to do so Hisoka just used the little time he got efficiently and knew that with an incriminating fortune no one would suspect him to have forged it when he could totally hide his involvement with the chain user...but he did it bc it would make that fortune more convincing so even Chrollo wouldn't question it, even tho it goes against the other members' fortunes, and decide to stay He's too good at improvising

@@CR-hj2hk but you're assuming the object he transmutes consists or atleast has some components of nen. However thats not the case. Transmuters can transmute their nen and *objects*. When hisoka transmuted the fortune he just changed the literature of that paper. There's no nen on it. So if you use gyo theres no nen (In) to see on the fortune. They explained this in the heavens arena arc

I'm not talking about what Kastro did or transmutation I'm just mentioning what Hisoka did during his fight with Kastro : he used a handkerchief with texture surprise concealed with In to make the illusion his cut arm was healed and when Gon Killua and Zushi were watching the video of the fight with Wing, the nen threads and the handkerchief were visible with Gyo, meaning Hisoka did use In on the handkerchief too, to hide the fact he used texture surprise on it right? if not it wouldn't make sense...
