For discrete data we don't use histograms. We use bar charts. Each bar represents a single value in a bar chart. therefore bar charts have gaps. Histograms are used when we don't know exact data values but we are given ranges of data. In that case the data is continuous (no gaps between values). Histograms do not have gaps between bars. I am surprised this video hasn't been modified in 10 years.

Ok this is for everyone that's saying this is not a histogram. He said early in the video that he was not using intervals and since 0 or better yet (0,0) is in the bottom left hand corner, there is no space! So this is a very basic representation of histogram!

Hey, I recently got marked down in an assignment in my histogram for choosing the wrong bin sizes/ranges. Instead of dividing the range by the number of bins (10) I just manually but them in since it made the output more comparable. I'm trying to get reconsideration for my grade and so I'm wondering: Is it the default method to find the bin size by range/bin size? Or is that just one of the main ways?

You're thinking of histograms with unequal sized 'bins' or 'buckets', in which case 'frequency density' is the y axis. Not all histograms are like this.
