So a little correction. Mansa Musa did indeed bow. But in a loop hole way that you kind of mentioned. The Sultan wanted to meet him and he kind of had to meet in order to make his way through Cairo. So after he refused, the go betweens workout out a solution. So when Musa met the Sultan, he saalamed and said, “I bow to God.” So he did indeed bow. But it wasn’t for the Sultan per say.

Wouldn't Mali be straight awful in a 1v1 though? They have arguably the worst start in the game, they're extremely start reliant and their unit is pretty much a joke for warfare. You misinterpreted the dodging sales tax line. You were talking about income tax, the sales tax line is referring to the fact that for a long time Amazon didn't collect sales tax in most states (they tried to make the argument that only physical locations had to do so but eventually the laws became less ambiguous to force them to collect and remit sales tax for online orders).

The value of gold dropped because the supply increased. It's noteworthy that the reason the Mali empire was so rich in gold was because Mali was the source or controlled the route through which the gold of West Africa flowed up into Europe and Asia, which for much of the medieval comprised the majority of all gold in Europe, at least. Other West African states controlled this before and after. Eventually, they faced competition with the rise of European sailing fleets which could circumvent these trade routes, and then eventually when colonization resulted in massive influxed of gold and silver from the new world. It's also suspected the reasons for Mansa Musa's generosity was less genuine charity and more about manipulating opinion, and attacking the Cairo gold markets, but that's speculation. The gold brought along was also used to pay intellectuals and experts to return with him to Mali

It's a daft nitpick. He was a king, by whatever word was used or bs justification given. If you want to get into the nitty gritty of the governance of the sultanate, go ahead, but it's ultimately the same shit as any other kingdom.

Allah mode could also represent a term called "God Mode" which can reference someone as a league above or untouchable.

I am being taught about African history in school this year and we learned about Mali, we were taught that Mansa Musa was worth trillions back in his day.

I had heared of the king of Mali. Problem is that the nation has nearly disappeared under the Sahara desert. Those other empires are still around in one for or another.

Mansa Musa's character had flows that were very easy to understand (pretty obvious on the surface and loaded with subtext to reflect on) so clear winner......but that final bar from Bezos was really good.

I knew Musa took this before Bezos even started. Admittedly I've never heard Screwface before this song but I damn sure will be looking him up. I like this dudes flow.

I can't speak for everyone obviously but I personally did learn about Mansa Musa in school. I did take AP history classes and I think that's a big part of why most don't hear about him. In regular level classes they take things slower and as a result they tend to focus on the history that has had a more direct impact on the society we live in. Mansa Musa was a fascinating person but if we are being honest, he had pretty much no impact on the Western world. That doesn't diminish anything he did, but it does impact how important it is to teach. The more advanced classes that move more quickly are able to cover more topics, and that's when Mansa Musa comes in.

He ruined the economy of multiple countries while he was traveling to Mecca, he built a mosque every weekend over the course of 5 years (might be wrong about the length of time, but I know when you add up the amount of mosques he built, it's in the multiple hundreds) and on his way, he gave out a ridiculous quantity of gold. I know it was mostly done on his way to Mecca, not on the way back because giving away the gold was part of the pilgrimage of travelling to Mecca

Fun Fact: Timbuktu (the great city of books and universities) is in the country of Mali, West Africa, the country that Mansa Musa ruled. Musa was a big reason why Timbuktu became so famous and renowned for knowledge.

Assuming you haven't seen it already (which is a big assumption) you should react to History of the Entire World I Guess. It's definitely your kind of video. It's a bit longer though than your usual videos so you might want to wait for a special event like 500k subscribers or something.
