@JuDGe369 When we re-opened the Oneonta Tunnel we had a parade of vintage cars. It was really fun to see. As more sections of the historic highway are opened, we'll have more special events and invite folks to walk, bike or drive vintage cars along the roadway. Call 503-731-4957 to get on the e-mail list.

There's still ten miles left to reconnect the road to the trail, but 63 miles out of the 73 are completed. We have an interesting set of videos from last year that updates this one from 2009. Definitely worth checking out! kzbin.info/aero/PL6mL7JnVXhphd5o4_lQwodklJMZEA2ZMo Currently we're working on constructing 1.32 miles from Lindsey Creek to Starvation Creek Trailhead, which is about 7 miles west of Hood River, Oregon. It will act as a connector for future phases of the trail system extending to the west. This portion includes constructing a trail and a 50-foot span bridge for walking, biking, and outdoor enthusiasts. It'll meander along sections of the historic highway and through forests, Hole in the Wall Falls, and it's going to cross Warren and Wonder Creeks. You can also track the effort here: www.oregon.gov/odot/hwy/hcrh/Pages/index.aspx

2:22 - And you'll never see it, because they blew it up with explosives for no reason. (They closed this Hwy and built a freeway down at water level. Still not a reason to destroy this wonder.)

It appears they are spending the many, many, many millions of dollars to re-open the Mitchell Point Tunnel right now in 2021. Too bad it's so noisy there that few people will want to use it.

Pretty neat idea to spend millions of donated and tax dollars refurbishing this national treasure into a hiking and biking trail. The problem is that this trail is smack up next to the ridiculously noisy new Interstate Highway that replaced it, so there is no peace nor serenity here, so it's not gonna get used. Again, it's a great IDEA,....but what a waste of money this will turn out to be for how few people will actually use it. Look at the majority sections that are done now, the parking lots are empty and nobody is on the trail. The new million dollar bridges sure look pretty though.

Not sure if worth the investment, but the trail does seem to get a lot of use though (especially the Troutdale to Multnomah Falls section).
