Once again, I’m in awe. The significance of matching door hardware was not lost on me. I’ve spent three years trying to match the four original doorknobs in my 1910 house. I’m still searching. Thank you for emphasizing keeping the vintage kitchen. Kitchens like that are such high quality and worth preserving for the future.

Laine, Thank you for restating that we are caretakers of these homes for future generations. You stated this while you" are chaining" yourself to the marigold tile. The same sentiment applies to furniture as well. Thank you and Kevin for what you all do. Appreciate it. Regards.

You are blessed to spend Christmas morn in that spectacular beauty! I grew up in a 3 story towered Queen Anne that my family sold and then they went and sold to a developer that razed it 25 years ago for condos. I miss her but the memories of that grand dame are still in my heart forever and is sometimes still in my dreams. I pray the next owners keep the memories going. God bless!

Laine, and I presume Kevin, behind the camera. Thank you for another great tour of a fantastic historical home; and so close to pearl. That cranberry tile speaks to me, and the hardware from those times is art in itself; and to have it all still intact throughout is amazing. I also love the large biblical themed paintimg just as your coming in the door; it's quite spectacular, as is much of the decor throughout the home. 🙂

Love it all! Think of how that butler's pantry can be brought back to life with period cabinets or furniture pieces like you had in Pearl's kitchen. I love that all the mantles and tiles are undisturbed. Especially love the yellow!!

Love the mantles. The cranberry ones 😍! That screened porch through the magic closet😘🤩!☺Sweet Victorian!!

Hi guys:)I just came in from scraping (with a wire grill brush) and sanding a cast Iron, soot and rust covered Victorian (coal)fireplace out on my picnic/work table. We are adding (former coal) electric fireplaces to our modest working class Vic and all I could think about was how pretty it would be when we build it in and tile around it. Seeing that cranberry and marigold color tile helped give me that mental boost to get back out there tomorrow. You do such a great job showing off each homes special details, it's sure to find the next special family for this gem:)

Laine, I love your excited advocacy for maintaining original/vintage features. You explain why a feature is significant and worth saving; a perspective so rarely promoted in a public forum but desperately needed. You even sometimes scold the person who would consider changing and removing significant details by pointing out their duty as caretaker for the future- a clever tactic! 😉I know you are restricted in your geographical scope of influence being in the south as you are, but you are so good at describing a home's details, I wish you could expand your range of influence to include other areas of the United States. There's so many beautiful homes hiding in the shadows across this vast country that need a "Lanie" to properly promote their history.

Lovely! I thought I spotted Pearl in your initial fly-by! The exterior looks to be in good shape, and what a charming color choice. All of our interior door hardware matches; silver metal 'shield' shapes (which I'd never seen before) with scalloped glass knobs. Swinging kitchen beveled door plates are either glass or resin; clear on the dining room side, black facing the kitchen. The kitchen & bath pulls had been replaced with 1970s cheap stuff, so I went right out and bought appropriate 1930s glass knobs. Our prior owners lived here from 1951 to 2002, and though the condition was not great (and really, SO MUCH 1970s), most of it was cosmetic and I knew we'd found a gem. That cranberry tile is beautiful; thank you for explaining the significance. With so much flooding on the news, I too had wondered how so many 19th Century (and earlier) homes had survived so close to the Mississippi River. That high bluff provides those fantastic views as well. Has it really been three years already? Time flies when you're restoring, lol. :)

This house as most of Natchez sits high above the river. There’s a 300 foot bluff.
@kbVACArestatecarsnrvs2 ай бұрын
The house is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. I really like it even though it does need some updates without discarding "original" features and I would focus on the rear views of that river. It could scream WOW with careful and correct attention to that opportunity and luxury of so much back yard. The porches would be blissful!

@@OurRestorationNation I checked it out on Zillow and did street views, and all around down to the river. Even did satellite on the estate down on the river since the road ended at the gate house. Love the area. Very interesting place. The one house beside the shotgun house around the corner towards the river was a bit over decorated but it's always that one anywhere! Thanks for showing this and for your reply.

2 questions: 1. Are the mantels painted? I think that cranberry would look phenomenal w/a dark wood. 2. I have a countertop & backsplash combo in my house. (Grandpa built this house in the 40s/50s) The counter/backsplash is banana yellow w/neon orange boomerang shapes. I'm definitely taking it out but do you think I should tuck it away somewhere for whomever gets this house down the line? Or are they not worth saving? I would feel bad just chucking them.
