Ohio River Valley girl here. Ancestry tells me the Ohio River Valley is my Community, but I did not need them to tell me that. All of my mom’s ancestors and all of my dad’s ancestors were from the Ohio River Valley. These videos are near and dear to my heart. The museum in today’s video was the best one yet. Maybe because I grew up with all those things. Yes, I am old. My dad’s mom passed along some of her treasures to me, so I recognized some of the things in the video. The Ohio River Valley is beautiful to me. Both the Ohio and West Virginia sides are special to me. Thank you for sharing these videos. ❤❤❤

I really enjoy watching your KZbin Channel videos, Russ! I'm a WV native and we have alot of great history in our state that we have proudly preserved. I'm a lifelong resident of Weirton, WV which is located in the Northern Panhandle of WV. When you see our state capital in Charleston, you're going to love touring our state capital. You can go on a self-guided tour or the staff will give you a tour of our capital. Our capital is absolutely gorgeous. There's also a Cultural Center Museum that you can tour as well. The museum is something that you want to see. The Cultural Center Museum is right on the capital grounds. There's also a great memorial to our American Troops who fought in the war. Definitely check out the memorial as well. Talk soon. Alan

Hey Russ, you are covering all of the major transportation systems: boats along the river of 1700's; horse and wagons of 1800's; airplanes of the 1900's & RVers of the 2000's ;>} Thanks for a historic few days in Ohio and WV !!!

This is really fun for me to see. 3 friends and I all trekked down for the Mothman Festival in the year 2010 or maybe 2009? We toured the main historic downtown, when to two museums (one for Mothman, one that was historic) and saw the murals too. Took photos of ourselves with the Mothman statue. Your video is really nice, thank you.

Having grown up in NYC a hot dog to me was Nathan’s kosher hot dog with mustard and sauerkraut. Imagine my surprise when I moved to WV to find out a hot dog had chili (no beans), onions and cole slaw! Grew to love them. They are all over the state with each town having their own slightly different chili recipe. Kind of like pepperoni rolls!

Point Pleasant is very picturesque. From the pink flowers to the charming downtown it looks like a nice place to visit. What a perfect way to preserve all those artefacts in the old cabin by the river. The murals are a nice surprise facing the river. Hillbilly hot-dog however was the perfect finale to this video in the perfect little town. I would totally stop there myself! Safe travels.

The little mansion was cool. In very good condition considering it's almost 230 years old. The park and memorial was also cool.. Ann Bailey was a frontier scout and helped in the American Revolutionary War. The Mothman Festival draws a huge crowd. This year it was September 16-17.

What a fun video, and there's nothing quite like a good old-fashioned chili dog. I kept thinking about my mother while I was watching this. She was an avid antique collector. She had an 18th century china cabinet that looked a lot like the one at the museum, and she would have loved going through that big antique store too.

Looks like the preference back then was the south bank of the Ohio, that helps to explains the Ohio Kentucky West Virginia jokes from my childhood days. Did not know Danl Boone could read or write. aha ha halah. Incredible how the thousands of years of Indian history is always swept under the carpet in those kind of places and yet most people want a reservation anytime they go some where.

Driving down highway 2 is so beautiful in the fall. Were in Ohio, in Gallipolis. We drive to Huntington along that route. Never ate at Hillbilly hotdogs, but have drove by many times. One of the best videos I've seen. Hillbilly hot dogs isn't located here though. The river is pronounced Ka-NAW-a. The name of the park is Tu--endie-wei meaning mingling of the waters. The 2 rivers. As you entered Main street at 6th street you missed the memorial of the old Silver Bridge that fell. (Beside the narrow bldg.) It is the location of the ramp. The Mansion House was a hotel where George Washington once stayed. He commented it was a "pleasant point." Tribute to the River is an annual festival. The TV you saw is on the front of the new River Museum!

the whole mothman story is bizarre , many ppl think it was just the sighting of this giant bird//moth like creature which the police took very seriously when the ppl who saw it gave their statements, but all types of other weird stuff happened at that time from ufo sightings to odd looking men from the Government showing up in town going to peoples homes and businesses and all of it ending with the collapse of the bridge, very weird part of history for that town
