Great video. Thank you. Surprised you don’t have snowshoes. Also a rigid rod for measuring. I think a folding wooden ruler would penetrate the snow better that a metal measuring tape. And still fit in a coat pocket.

@@JACKnJESUS I 100% agree with just turn on the weather channel and see what's going on. When he is around my area, I check my radar apps and monitor those as well. He knows an inimaginable amount for information about storms and predictions. His passion for doing something that he loves to do and the lengths to which he goes to accomplish that is what I'm talking about. Also him showing his heart for people when he is on a chase and stops everything to help people that were impacted.
@JACKnJESUS
@JACKnJESUS 2 жыл бұрын
@@sglasgow79 I understand and this seems normal today. I don't mean to berate his efforts. He is however...not a professional, and probably does not have resources to implement his own rescue if need be. Then he would pick up his phone...and call...professionals. He is another person out in terrible weather...possibly creating another problem for people hired to do the actual work. Anyone who does not ABSOLUTELY have to be outside right no on the roads...should NOT be.

@@funtyes1970 That is crazy. I've lived in Buffalo most of my life and I don't ever remember there ever being Thundersnow lightning. You said the lightning during a snow storm is rare, but if you live it Buffalo it happens probably every couple of years. It normally happens during lake effect snow storms and usually it's a sign that it is about to get bad. They are really impressive during a whiteout. You can't see the lightning, but the whole sky lights up and of course you hear the thunder.

Born and raised in Black Sea part of Istanbul, when i was a kid i always imagined that all snowfall events in the world was caused by sea evaporation, named sea effect snowfall. Also thundersnow was a normal event for me. Kinda shocked when i learnt that fronts caused most snowfall in the world except places which sit near water bodies. This is such a common phenomenon in Istanbul, that we usually get not only sea effect snowfall, but also sea effect rains which lasts for days. I remember one time it rained straight for 10 days in a spray form, which only totaled to 10 mm. Black Sea region of Turkey is truly a moisture heaven. Thanks to these type of sea effect, some years we even get 30 inches of snow in just a single storm, 100 m above sea level. Also our latitude is lower than western Europe but we get much more snow thanks to Black Sea.

Farmer's Almanac predicted that the New England region was going to get hit hard with snow this season, and that the Great Plains wouldn't get as much snow, but would be hit with arctic cold. So far, they're right on the money. I'm in the nw corner of North Dakota. We've been hitting the negative cold temperatures, not even considering wind chill factors, already, before Thanksgiving. Thank you Reed. As long as you let the inner child out, I know it's okay for me too as well.

Wow, I haven't seen you in awhile. Great to see you Reed. I'll hit that button. I'm in SW Michigan and we have 14 inches of snow where I am at. Been awhile since I've been thigh deep in snow.

Wow, snow-mageden Buffalo, NY 2023. I'm originally from Michigan, and I thought I saw some big snow. That was nothing compared to what y'all are getting. Again, WOW!

It "thundersnowed" where I live in Georgia, back in 2004. The weatherbug app kept going off on the computer. The temperature was dropping dramatically every few mins. All of a sudden, a big lightning flash came, then thunder. All of a sudden, it started snowing, and we had about 4-5 inches that night-day. It was great!

I'm from Toronto and I wish you well my Neighbors! Lake Erie and Lake Ontario act as a barrier or shield not to mixed hot and cold air fast enough. But. Thunder Snow? so Fascinating yet so Deadly! Keep safe And Keep Warm!

Crazy how much thundersnow ive seen over my life, considering how rare it is. In CT i witnessed thundersnow in Feb 01, Feb 03, Feb 13, Feb 17, Mar 18. Some of which was very close CG strikes, with loud summertime convective claps.
