Historic Swell Switches On Fort Point Surf at the Golden Gate Bridge on Dec 28, 2023

Historic is the word many used to describe the anomalous weather system which ripped through across the state of CA to cause this sort of action at Fort Point.
Waves were about overhead in the outer cove, but these surfers were brave to tread rocky and dangerous waters that have proven fatal on calmer days. It's not known to be a world-class wave, but it is very difficult to navigate.
Huge, storm-driven waves in California sent the Surfline forecast for Fort Point on this day peaking at around 15ft, a little over 2x overhead! Most of the year, this spot doesn't break at all. Atmospheric-river storms battered the Pacific Coast and overloaded exposed shorelines. Weather phenomenon like storms and enormous swells can send relatively high surf to Fort Point under the Golden Gate Bridge.

If you’re ever in So Cal & hear the Newport Wedge is 20ft plus go and check the waves breaking INSIDE the harbor entrance. The south jetty gets a wave real similar to this one. They’re technically forbidden by the lifeguards but that’s only when they’re looking. Thanks for the video.

OK, no one will believe this, but not all who wander are lost. In summer, when a good 210 swell (a NZ swell) comes from the south, and the negative low tides are in the morning, Fort Point gets really, really, fun. I don't want to debate how a 210 gets in there, but it does, and it only breaks on the inside rocks - no swinger sets, no sets outside the bridge. Take off inside the last rock, and get a fun little 5-10 second ride. It's really the only time the inside break is any good. In winter, wait for the supersize swells and tide near the low but starting to come in and surf outside the bridge, much better wave.

You have a great intro and the video is well worth watching! Thanks, this spot is one that I'd love to surf if I lived anywhere near there. I also loved how you showed different perspectives of the wave. It helped me understand the type of wave that it is. It would be great if you gave some narration to what you were doing there and why you found it worth posting. I never made use of that when posting my hang gliding videos (all of which I've removed for various reasons) but they would have benefited from personal commentary of some sort to make me more human to the watchers I think. Good job though man, I think you could really build your channel with what I see here and I'm subbing in the hope to see your channel grow!
