HISTORIC TETRIS MOMENT: Logan Paul vs. Blue Scuti | ModRetro Classic Tetris World Championship 2024

On Friday, June 7th at the Pasadena Convention Center, ModRetro in collaboration with the Tetris World Championship, hosted a special, live streamed Tetris tournament.
Eight contestants battled it out on the Chromatic system with our new version of Tetris, vying for the title of ModRetro Tetris Champion. But that’s not all, the winners faced off against the one, and only, LOGAN PAUL for the championship belt.

It cheapens and tarnishes the event, it indicates that CTWC is willing to put aside morals in favour of money, it implies that if they're willing to work with a person who's career has been spent manipulating a young audience to give him money, then what other shady people are they willing to work with / endorse? It calls into question the CTWC's integrity by associating with a brand and / or person like this, and as someone who's followed the CTWC since Harry's shock win against Jonas, it makes me sad and a little angry tbh... And judging from all of the other comments I've seen everywhere, I'm not alone.

Scuti's uncle here. Everyone that is disliking this, wasn't there. At the event, everyone had fun with it and Logan was nice to everyone, including Scuti and the other players. Scuti had so much fun. Logan had a few heel moments but played it straight for the most part. My favorite moment was at 6:03 when Scuti went to give a fist bump and Logan broke character haha

Promotion is such a big thing and these kinds of people will help. Scuti is now a legend to people like me and others who never knew of him before and he seems cool. Was fun to watch and I figure more people will be getting into these things soon. It's a big opportunity for the players too to make some serious money if these events grow bringing in even more people due to incentives. I'm actually not mad at the tournament organizers because Classic Tetris has grown at such an exponential rate over the past 6 months that it'd be hard for anyone to reckon with. But I am worried. Especially when a lot of this community's biggest competitors are children/minors, the number one priority should be to protect the community against bad actors and scam artists. To see some people in this comments section saying that inviting these kinds of people is all worth it for the money and views that will come into the scene is disconcerting. I say this as someone who has only recently started spectating Classic Tetris but has developed a love for its community... there's a lot of people who started paying attention after BlueScuti's accomplishment who'd be willing to financially support this tournament. We constantly talk about how nice, wholesome and welcoming the Classic Tetris community is and then a large part of the community shows their true colors the moment Kingsman announced Logan Paul's name. It's quite disappointing. We can't talk about how awesome our community is when half the community is talking about how they hate a new person coming into the scene. Almost the entire online community hated Logan Paul being there. But you know who overwhelmingly loved it? The players and the people at CTWC. The players didn't have an issue with Logan being there. None of the players are online complaining about Logan Paul or Palmer Luckey (CEO of ModRetro). He founded Oculus and then after selling it to Facebook he founded a defense contractor startup that sells AI-based killer drones to the US military.
