Dinah Darling - Oh my gosh! That album, signed by all the band members! What a treasure! Surely, one of your most prized possessions? Please tell me you still have it! I've been listening to it too since I've been a little kid, and I never tire of it. Every song on this album is so good, and that opening... wow... that has been burned into my memory. Certainly one of my favorite records of all time.

Although, the flutist that Justin Hayward and the guys(those who are left), are now using is good. She just doesn't compare to Ray Thomas. I was fortunate to have seen him in concert in Saratoga Springs, NY. And I have to believe that he is finally relaxing in Heaven, but still playing, but this time for God! Rest In Peace, Ray Thomas. Their music is so inspirational, back then, and currently in today's craziness! Got to see them in Saint Louis at two concerts at the old Saint Louis Arena (where the Blues did their hockey games) 1970, & 1971? Anyway, never got mixed up into a bad crowd, nor hard drugs, nor heavy drinking. Whew! Was lucky as hell! Survived all of those times. Loved them then, and still love them to this day.

I still listen to it in 2020 and it's still amazing. It's timeless! Sorry, but I cracked up at the misinterpretation of "Who ordered that?" The original lyrics are "I'm more than that." Followed by, "I know I am. At least, I think I must be." I wish they would remix the entire album and bring the bass and high-end to where they are by today's standards. I know it's impossible, but I can still wish for it.

My first real exposure to the Moody Blues was in Autumn 1966 when I was 12 and starting to get into music and would go to sleep with the transistor radio tuned on WKBW. “Go Now” got airplay as an “oldie”. Not much was heard until Summer 1968 when “Tuesday Afternoon” charted, I grabbed the single and later got their “Days of Future Past” in 1970. But it was in High School in 1971 where I was truly turned on their their albums which needed to be heard in their entirety, partly because their selections are all merged into one but mainly because everything is so incredible!

Whatever you got it, this is one of the best mixes - and a proper copy job, the notes are delightfully clear and present. 🙂

Justin once said that "we weren't for everybody". That was probably a polite way of saying that not everybody is at a higher level of awareness to understand where they were coming from.

This was the 2nd album I purchased. I was in High School and bought it the week it came out. My first album purchased was Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix. I was not just another farm girl.

Such iconoclasm, such grandeur, such an improbable cosmic landscape full of darkness, light, fear and wonder and above all mystery, with blasts that plunge you into a trance followed by sudden changes that wake you up, eyes wide and quivering eyebrows. I've been listening to this every now and then for ages and still hear new subtleties🕊️🔥

What a great transition from the space poem "In the Beginning" followed by the more uptempo "Lovely To See You Again" and the more laid back "Dear Diary". I like how the Moody Blues had different singers with different styles but well blended harmonies.
