The "speakeasy" I think, just proves what I always say. Only WE THE PEOPLE the people decide whether laws are successful in their purpose or not. Prohibition was A complete failure because WE THE PEOPLE wanted intoxicants and WE THE PEOPLE were determined that political laws were not going to force morality on us. WE THE PEOPLE make the ultimate decision.

Hell yes! Casinos and live entertainment are also lockdown. Speakeasy for not just alcohol but for gambling and live entertainment as well in the 21st century 20s like it was in the 20th century 20s.

Oh honey. I snuck into a Mimi's restaurant WELL before dining was open again here in America. My man and I and some older lady by herself and the manager were the only 4 people in the restaurant so we could either hide/leave if someone stopped to question them. He kept bringing me lemon martinis and we all just talked and talked the entire evening. Yes.... People are definitely gathering ideas.

I have a foot long tattoo of Billie Holiday on my leg and think of the speakeasy when I listen to old time jazz and in Scotland we have a witch who is hell bent on prohibition again so I feel a way back to the era i love

How could people afford drink there, especially factory workers and other low income persons? According to the internet, one shot of whisky cost 35 dollars (inflation adjusted).

AHHHH THIS IS JUST SO COOL! LIKE WHY IS THE PROHIBITION NOT A MUCH MORE POPULAR SUBJECT? ITS JUST SL FASCINATING! The entire time period is an amazing sort of experimental environment and I just can’t get enough of it.

I think that this is an example of just how much influence WE THE PEOPLE can exert if we all work toward A common goal. It was one thing for the big fat paid politicians in Washington to enact legislation against the manufacture and sale of intoxicants but WE THE PEOPLE had other ideas WE wanted liqueur and there was nothing the those Washington political slobs could do to change that. And thirteen years later Prohibition was repealed because WE THE PEOPLE didn't want this piece of largely religious legislation trying to force "morality" on WE THE PEOPLE. Down with Washington and lets have WE THE PEOPLE throw the television and video games in the trash and go back to doing constructive activity for work, school, and play. Lets become the sensible, intelligent and accountable people that who were fit for self government and democracy that made America the greatest nation on the face of this earth that WE used to be.
