Assam was established by Bhaumasura of Naraka dynastry who moved out of Mithila. The Indo-Aryans in Assam have either Maithil or Kanyakubja ancestry.

Baro-Bhuyan kayasthas of Assam were from Kannauj too. I'm myself an Assamese Kayastha. People with surnames like kalitas, Bharalis and Bhuyans are assamese baro Bhuyan kayasthas Mahapurush Srimanta Shankardev, the Vaishnavite polymath of Medieval Assam was a baro Bhuyan kayastha.

Haors have nothing to do with sea. We name even big lakes as sagar, for example ramsagar lake in Dinajpur district. So, imo it makes more sense that the kings used to live by the side of a haor which are abundant in sylhet area, and the authors of the epics used the word "sagar" for such a large water body rather than the idea of tide bay of Bengal reaching that far

Jay Vardhan Sir I am a great fan of yours. I have been watching your videos since last year as I am interested in Ancient Indian History and will be studying higher courses in History belonging to this era. Sir I am from West Bengal and hence I am really curious to know the ancient history of Bengal since the region was Mahajanapada/Janapada called Anga. You know there is an archeological sight called Chandraketugarh situated in the district of North24Parganas which historians and archeologists believe to be even older than the Mauryan Period and the ancient discovered city is mysterious like Harappa as no inscriptions or reference of any king was found. However being so ancient hundreds of beautiful terracotta carvings, sculptures and other drawn data depicting the life lived by people in that city has been minutely detailed. Sir as a curious student it is my earnest request if you could please research about the Chandraketugarh Sight as no one really talks about it.. Many even believe that the chronicle related to Ganga Rhidoy Warriors of which Alexander feared might be the people of Ancient Bengal and Chandraketugarh might be linked to it. Sir it will be a Great Honour of you kindly accept my request. Thankyou Sir.

Hi Jay, been a long time since I’ve commented but I’m still here. Great vid which sheds light on the history of ancient Assam. I’ve seen your podcasts and videos on mlecchas too. I can see the challenges scholars face in dating Indian history from the sources. Could you please share your opinions on when Assam (Kamarupa/Prag) and also Bengal/Bihar and perhaps Odisha (somatata, Anga, Kalinga , Pundra, Sinhal, Vanga etc) was first visited by Vedic Indo Aryans and also when the territories were no longer mleccha territories but part of Aryavarta? Assam as region had many kingdoms - Pragjyotisha Kingdom , Kapili -Dabaka Kingdom , Duborini Kingdom. Pragjyotisha expanded during the Bhauma-Varama regime. So Assam was not mere Pragjyotisha-Kamrupa kingdom

Burmese ruled for only 4 years period. Before 19 Century there was no relation between between burma and assam nor of the population

Bengal Assam tension from around 12th century when Mongol Expansion pushed several tibeto burman, tai groups from East Asia in the region.. That is the era since when Ahoms arrived, Khasis arrived, Bhutias arrived... and Ahoms eventually were culturally dominated and influenced by Bengalies and even mixed with them like many others to the extent that their names, rituals, festivals, food habits, language many things had bengali influence... Which they began to ironically also loath and be insecure of and continue to be.... UP, MP Bihar wouldnt have made much relevance even if by some miracle they remianed politically dominant.

The real indigenous people of the land today known as Assam are the Kirats. The Kirat King Ghatak was dethroned by Narak with the help of Vishnu (God). Ethnicities like Koch , Rabha , Garo etc are the descendants of Kirat race.

Indian historians post 1947 have tried to paint Assam as succesor of Kamrup, because the actual KAMRUP became East Pakistan, and now it Bangladesh... Anyone can search the ancinet scriptures and references of cities of Kamrup and they were all cities like SriHatta(Sylhett), Mymensingh etc. 😀 Kamrup is East Bengal, not Assam. The identity of Assam is not older than 300 years old... Assamese isnt even an ethnicity. Initially it was a band of people against Bengalies...It included, Naga, Garo, khasi, Bodo, Ahom, Jaintiya and even Bengali muslims (miyas) in 20th century...Once Assam was formed these, several groups divided and then began to establish their own consolidated areas : Khasis made Meghalaya, Nagas made Nagaland. Now Garos and Bodos r demanding secession. There was never any region called Assam in ancient history...Mongoloid Tibeto Burmans, Tai etc started arriving there since 13th century and claiming lands of original natives who had more in common with the present day Bengalies than anyone else.... The racial aggression and push back of Bengalies in North East is from that era.

Any mythological story from any religion can give us cultural background of a region but no mythological stories can be a true history. Even Bible too . Indian Epic stories so enrooted in d Indian psychi that nobody can oppose it. But true historian & honest scholars from any branch knowledge accept Epic stories from Hindu,muslim , Christians Greek Zorastrian.......take them as true history.
