Well, Baraka does lose a lot but I mean, who all has he faced? Raiden, a freaking thunder god. Johnny Cage who is descendant of a clan of warriors bred by gods. Jax, a trained military man who was really strong even before his enhancements. Jade, a trained assassin who was chosen to guard Kitana. D'Vorah, Kotal's personal and most trusted ally who has slaughtered multiple tarkatan and beat a demigod, an Edenian/Tarkatan hybrid and an Edenian by herself. He does have a bad losing streak but at least he didn't lose to Hsu Hsao or an armless Goro like Kenshi.

I don't know if anyone is aware, but when Liu Kang and Kung Lao fight the Tarkata in the MKX flashback with Raiden, THAT is what Raiden was referring to in MK9 when he told Johnny and Jax "I sent them to free their Shaolin masters" as they're walking to Shao Kahn's throne room. Even after the MKX flashback, Raiden said he had to go because the tournament began soon. Pretty cool how that lines up!

I think the Xenomorph/Tarkatan hybrid is cool but I would have preferred if they just gave Baraka a roster spot all together for MKX cause the third party characters are just marketing tools to make profit rather than actually serving any real good purpose to the game. Baraka is an original character who is part of the story so I felt it was a complete waste to exclude 4 potential originals in favor of third party characters. I will admit I enjoyed playing as Alien, Predator, Leatherface and Jason as they were fun to use but they were wasting 4 good roster spots that could have been reserved for originals. Hell I wouldn't have even mind if they made brand new characters for the kombat packs as long as they were original to the Mortal Kombat.

I can actually explain why the Xenomorph has those armblades. Xenomorphs lack original genetic structure, so when the embryo is inserted in the host, it attaches itself to a critical artery. While it's drinking blood getting nutrients, it also takes in some of the hosts genetic coding from their DNA, and inputs it into its own. Hence the Xenomorph that came out of Baraka's chest having the armblades, and tarkatan like teeth.

More of Tarkatan history as a whole, but it was revealed in MKX that Baraka's people had a realm of their own that Shao Kahn conquered. This is a retcon of the original timeline where Tarkatans were mutants hybrids of Outworlders and Netherrealm demons.

I'm probably being too hopeful but the fact Baraka was one of the first 8 characters revealed I think he might have a bigger role in the story than ever. They should make him have some purpose though, explain what makes him better than other tarkatans or how he can make them follow him in the first place! I know I'm thinking too much about this but he's my favourite character so I really hope he has a big role.
