BlueJay Rates: China! This is the first video of a side series where I take a subject, analyze it, and give a final rating on a 10 star scale. China is a very culturally rich and fascinating civilization that has been around for centuries. While this video is heavily satirical, the actual story behind the nation is fascinating and I highly suggest looking into it further. If you enjoyed please share! If this video does well, I'll make more of these kind of videos!

Not so fun fact, China wiped out most of their sparrows during the great famine, believing that Sparrows were destroying farmers crops. In reality the sparrows were eating all pests who were destroying those same crops. The almost total extinction of the sparrows lead to a rise in pests and a lack of crops being grown causing the famine to grow larger.

@carl hartford I can believe that there are people who want power. What I can’t believe though is China imploding when they’ve been quite stable. They have good business, they pioneer in a lot of technologies. While an economy may take a dive, that economy can always be brought back up. So no I can’t believe that the People’s Republic of China is gonna collapse in our time.

I, personally, was shocked when i learned (outside of school) that the japanese feel no remorse towards china and korea. Germans and austrians have so much to learn about their own inhuman atrocities that there is hardly space for what others did. During the cultural revolution, my grandparents who were both university researchers were sent with all their directly related family members to a production camp. At lunch time, they had to bow on a high stage, along other academic researchers, to a room of factory workers (people who never received education) while those people eat first. The people bowing on stage could only go eat after the workers finished. My mom who was a young child at the time, would have to witness that everyday for years while she waited for her parents to come down the stairs to eat. I can’t post this story on any Chinese platforms as it would get taken down right away. It’s just sad how they try to bury the disgusting things they’ve done and forcefully shuts anyone trying to speak about it.

Actually not quite! While there are some easter eggs in that mesh of audio clips that I’ll let you all decipher, the majority of it were audio clips of me reading interesting tid bits of ancient Chinese history. For the laughing moment, that came after I talked about the story of two peaches and three warriors from the province of Qi. Me saying “the killing of three warriors with two peaches” sounded so ridiculous that I laughed

@@stephenhawkingsbeautywheel9080 Communism is good, on its own. It's that Authoritarian part that people try to add which ruins everything for everybody. The reason that communism and socialism have repeatedly failed miserably throughout history is that every time they've been implemented, it's been done under the premise of getting the populace to accept a dictatorship. Remove the position of power at the top (no singular "leader" or insular group acting as a combined dictator), and the concepts of equity and equality come into much better focus.

I like your video, agrees with almost everything, there is just one thing I really want to point out, Falungong isn't just a harmless yoga group. I know that's how they have presented them selves outside of China, but they are a cult, a cult fitting all of major sterotypes about Cults. They believe that their leader is the creater of the universe or something like that and won't allow their members to go to hospital for medical issues. they sell high priced 'medicine' to members that is sick and the leader manipulates young female members into having sex with him. I agree that the Chinese government is awful, but not allowing Falungong to roam free in China is one of the frew things I agree with. How do I know all this? because my Grandma is a long time follower of Falungong and I was taught about Falungong from her at a young age, I forgot all of the quotes from the Holy book but what I said above is coming from what I remember.

This comment section is confusing. The Jehovah's Witnesses I know are much more likely to go to hospital when ill than a few more mainstream churches I know. They also take the sanctity of marriage and the nature of intimacy very seriously. If a leader tried to manipulate a girl into sex, there'd be an outcry among the whole congregation, and the leader would almost certainly be disfellowshipped. Certainly, he wouldn't be allowed to lead anymore. The police may even be called in. I'm not a JW myself, but comparing them to an actual, human-centered cult isn't accurate.

You forgot the best part of the great leap forward. Mao ordered to hunted all pigeons because he though they eat farmers' rice. But the fact is pigeons don't eat only rice, they eat other insect like locust too. The loss of rice from pigeons is too small compare to other problem like locust, but Mao was soldier not scientist or farmer. Then, people started hunting pigeons untill they're almost extinct. After there weren't hunter, "it's free real estate"locust. Combine to stupid order that force farmers made forges and melt their tool to make low quality ingot. The famine spreaded. To solve this happen, they had to import pigeons to fight locust. And many low quality factories cause air polution problems till today(Some factories still operate since Mao reign, CCP tried to change those old power plants but it's too hard).
@patrickchuan4550
@patrickchuan4550 Жыл бұрын
You also forgot the part where the "famine" (food-shortage) happened during three years of the PRC 2nd five-year economic plan. The first five-year economic plan was so successful at increasing food production, PRC was overconfident in the second one. However, since then, there was no major screw-up like that. They learn to build really impressive infrastructures to deal with floods and droughts. Not to mention there was a worldwide trade embargo on PRC, so that means restricted access to loans, food import, fertilizers, and farming equipment since the Korean War. That trade embargo lasted until 1972 after Nixon visited China.

4:10 Valid point. Some might say that the communists were able to make a comeback since the nationalist troops, who were pretty much the only Chinese forces (the commies laid back) to fight the Japanese. So in the end, casualties and overall fatigue allowed the communists to easily get ahold of the country. The end.
@hooderik8699

This is a logical but misleading concept ppl believe but the communist still had a huge disadvantage against nationalist troops in 1945, however the nationalist government acting like the dickheads they are had a very large forced convict army with no moral that could win against the communists, the KMT's lack of trust and internal fighting is what devastated them. During 1931 to 1945 the nationalist held large campaigns are they should being the ruling party of china and controlled most resources. The communist had very active roles behind enemy lines in western and northern china. The communist were great at their guerrilla tactics and were able to secure all country side except for the Japanese captured railway junctions and cities. in 1943 the communist launched a major counter offensive in enemy captured land. Simply put the communist were a smaller very unified group of mental elites that lacked physical equipment but managed to improve themselves through their tactics. The KMT was a huge hot mess with no self trust and care within their armies, the only output they had in terms of fighting was the few well trained troops with the determine nation to fight the japs.
