The Worlds Banlist usually sucks. Eveything in the past 2 Years was basically killed due to absurd amount of cards being banned from combining the OCG and TCG banlists. Region Exclusives were also banned so nothing like Gold Pride was legal.

Its worlds which is a fake format. Both OCG and TCG banlists apply so anything which got hit differently on both lists is just mega dead. Kashtira has 0 Fenrir, 1 Unicorn, 1 Planet, 1 Ariseheart, 0 Diablosis.

Dragon link / Chaos Pile is the hardest deck to nerf. Many banlist had come and go but it still getting constant top.

A ban on a dragon link card doesn't feel very justified compared to like Shangri La or Tearlaments. Not one card in the deck feels Uber powerful, it does have very good extension cards. Konami can only really limit or semi limit starters or extenders. Plus new generic dragon cards will always be printed, though putting D-link heavy in mind...

Thats the point. The dragon combo isnt meta defining nor over powerful to an extent where an emergency banlist (PEPE, TeleDAD) nor a heavy banlist like for tear zero was needed. Its actually the same end board most of the time but the number of recursion cards as well as extenders and fodders was insane to a point where any top deck can easily build another board after being destroyed the previous turn.

Hence why Dragons and Chaos have been 2 of the most annoying strategies in yugioh's history. They are always around and somehow become at least a rogue deck again any time a single new decent dragon or bricky chaos card is printed.

Its also hard to justify when this tournament doesn't really represent either format with how the shared banlist works. Most of these decks were played specifically because other decks got completely ruined by both OCG and TCG hits applying at once.

Yeah, the backrooms was a strange choice for a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament venue. And then over to our E-sports venue where we will have Yu-Gi-Oh players, renowned for their social skills and linguistic prowess, give a speech to a crowd through a Japanese interpreter at what could be the most emotional moment of their lives... This one might need cook a little longer.

judging by the available deck lists I'd say that a lot of the OCG players totally misjudged what people were going to bring this time. Their side decks were super prepared for backrow, xyz, and fusion decks but were less prepared to see link combo decks. With the hindsight of 6 of the top 8 being link decks maybe something like Phantazmay would have been a reasonable choice for this event.

tear has been the best deck in ocg for so long, now it's r-ace and purrely which are unplayable so they defaulted to decks which are good pre-tear like branded. they prob aren't familiar w/ plants either since it's not a real deck in the ocg bc of maxx c. and the one guy who brought dlink went undefeated before getting dq'd lol

Konami really doesn't have any good reason for putting people in the backrooms on paper playmats, that's the purest greed I've ever seen. YGO as a franchise is quite up there in value, but somehow they can't provide proper location, 1v1 tables with a judge (28 players, so 14 tables and judges) and high quality world tour playmats? That's chump change for Konami, and they don't even want to pay that?
