Have to admit, he was one of the last guys I thought would win. So much respect for this guy. I don't know, I guess I misjudged him as being not hard enough. Thought he was a bit too far into the comfortable suburban life with kids, how would he possibly have time to get really good survival skills and noy was I wrong. I am not a religious man but David is a wonderful example for religion if I ever saw one. He proved how strength and faith can get you through the most excuciating of circumstances. Of course I think the love for his kids really pushed him. Incredible. This is what makes this such a great show.

Compared to the other contestants i really didnt expect him to make it far. When it came down to the final four i was certain either Nicole or Jose would win. Both had expert knowledge of bushcraft but ultimately lost due to overestimating their circumstances. In the end, it was a game of who would crack first, Larry or Dave. I was rooting for Dave but i thought Larry would end of winning due to his ability to stick out the pain this long. Good job to Dave for sticking it out. I personally wanted either Mike, Jose, or Nicole to win but the fact they were able to last more than 2 weeks out there is awesome in my book.

@Douseiaisha I think what she is trying to say is some of us grew up having to work our buts off from a young child. Cutting and splitting wood by hand, Hauling square bales of hay, milking cows before and after school. Hoeing weeds by hand in gardens, digging potatoes with a shovel. And living with no AC or central heat was just the norm for us. And then our first jobs being hard labor too. I don't think she's calling 30 year old's dumb, but she's saying they are soft. And they haven't lived long enough yet to experience a lot of hardships.

My son and I are working our way through watching the seasons of Alone. This season was super excellent. We had David in the back of the pack after the first few early drop outs due to his dreaming about fried chicken and ribs. But his pragmatic approach towards catching seafood, positive yet humbled mindset, and super human intestinal fortitude won in the end! The last factor always seems to be the differentiator. Thanks David for sharing the inspiring journey!

I know this was aired years ago but I finished this episode this evening. With every contestant on there and as the episodes kept going the more Dave talked the more I could relate to him as a single mom of 3 sons I know that his love for his kids pushed him. I’m 54 and my sons are young adults and the reality of life is as you get older and you hit 50 you get mentally tougher especially when you’ve had to struggle through life. The pain and trials of life do make you stronger and Dave knew that this was his one shot of giving his kids a easier life. I believe he won because of his maturity and his will to leave this earth knowing he’s given his kids the gift of love. I cried when his daughter walked up to him ❤️👍 if you really listen to Dave you learn a lot that man has a lot of insight wisdom and courage.

I’ll start off by saying I don’t know if I had watched season 2 or not but decided to watch it again. I may have forgotten a lot of it but when it came to the end, some of it it’s ringing a bell but either way I’m glad I was able to watch it again. I’m truly amazed at the creativity of all the contestants. I was really rooting for a woman to win season 2. I loved the female empowerment and hope a woman wins someday. I felt really bad for the woman that had to leave. Nicole really amazed me. Knowing that she has MS, and also dealing with the loss of her son as well being away from her children & family trying to set an example is truly so inspirational. I love her beautiful outlook on life. I loved also how respectful and sweet she was when she had to do the most difficult things to do in order to survive. But one thing I was sad to hear is that she had to go but I understood heartily why. I wish her nothing but the best. Jose was very creative as well and I was really rooting for him too. I felt really bad though because that he had no more left to give after being in the water. I truly felt that if he didn’t fall in the water he probably would’ve been still there fighting. Everyone deserves to win I was really looking forward to Nicole and Jose. But one person I was very disappointed & angry about was Larry’s attitude towards animals and his meltdowns. I didn’t like the way he spoke about what he wanted to do to a mouse. That bothered me. It was so graphic and I felt like he just didn’t have any respect for an animal. I would’ve loved if he had of showed more compassion. As time went on I did really feel for him and what he was going through but he should be proud of himself for being second place. Of the changes he’s mentioned and made towards himself as time went on, I do hope that he continues to be a better person. I’m also amazed at the military guy I may have not liked what he said about a duck but he is so strong and determined. He’s an inspiration to many who suffer from mental illness. To never give up. It’s so amazing to hear all their stories on their journey when they are expressing what’s so more important in life. I enjoy listening to the knowledge they have on what they know as it’s very interesting to learn. Anyways as I kept watching I was so shocked that David In spite of things going wrong, & wanting to quit, he didn’t give up even as much as he wanted to. But he had determination to keep going. He knew his kids wanted him to keep holding on & to not give up. I literally had tears in my eyes in the end when his daughter was in the woods and I had a feeling she would walk on a branch to make noise I would have thought BEAR 🐻 lol but once he seen it was his daughter I had tears in my eyes and even when he was around his kids at the house to tell them what was going to happen. To see their happy faces with tears in their eyes brought tears to my eyes. I was just so happy for him and his kids. I’m so happy he won. Well deserved 👏🏻

Actually IMO all the odds were against Larry, who placed 2nd. The fact that Larry managed to place 2nd, despite having so much going against him from the start, getting dropped at a bum location, unable to procure food, having his camp flooded out, etc., and yet only lost by a hair was extremely impressive. But meanwhile I was rooting for David, because next to Jose he was the most likable.
