To address the WWI German flag, it wasn't that the devs were lazy, it was because they're woke. They even said that they didn't want to put offensive and hateful depictions into their game. The wokeness in this game was on full show, as one of the DICE people said that he felt it was his duty to put women and diversity into the game because his daughter who plays Fortnite didn't see a character that "looks like her" in the game.

Worst part is that flag never even existed. They just took an Imperial German flag, placed a white circle in the center and put in a Balkenkreuz. The Balkenkreuz was a symbol of the military, not the state, though I can somewhat excuse that for censorship reasons since it is unfortunately common for major game devs to not inlcude swastikas. I believe they should because we are supposed to be fighting soldiers of Nazi Germany, not some toned down nationalist Germany. They could have just done like literally everyone else and copied the Nazi Germany flag or war flag and censored the swastika. That makes a lot more sense than this.

Bro, you must be aware that before the release of BF5 there was a huge outcry and contraversy about this entire 'girl power' thing in WW2. Not only did people protest about 'spitting' on the actual hero's of the battle, but even the head developer was like :'I want to create something that my little girl can relate to' - paraphrasing. The head developer was fired after the release of the game, and this was the lowest selling battlefield on its release ever.

I got no problem at all with female character in such setting and all kind of other stories. The big problem is, that they are often terribly written. The main point about male characters is: their sex plays close to no role at all. They are that person. Female characters are often just that: female. And as if to compensate for that, they tend to be way over the top. Even worse when all male characters are made worse, just dumb, brutal and so on, so that female can shine more. There WERE women fighting, but it wasn't girl power. Just as all male soldiers got nothing to do with 'boy power'. Soldiers are lambs for the slaughter. There is nothing heroic about war. Men are told to die in wars for their women and children. If we would value the lives of men as much as the lives of women, war would simply be almost impossible. When I see war stories with female characters and then people think that is 'girl power', it just disgusts me. That's war propaganda. War stories shouldn't be about glorious victories. There is no glory in no war. Never. And evn heroism is just a nicer word for sacrifice. A sacrifice that shouldn't be needed in the first place.

Well it can be kinda forgivable because those optics sights were experimental and not holographic (the real ones was a glass with a carved or painted dot in the middle) Unlike Vanguard that put actual Reflex sights on WWII small arms instead on artillery batteries, Naval guns and pilot cockpits In 1972 there were such sights for small arms and one in 1945 for hunting shotguns (but was too fragile and discontinued)

The 1911 found might have been a "Kongsberg Colt" a licened norwegian made 1911. The germans occupied the kongsberg weapons factory during the war and there was actually made a few thousand 1911s with german markings on them.

If they really wanted to do 2 girls as a creative choice for a WW2 game, why not do it in German Occupied France or the Soviet Union then (and it has to be done well)? What BFV did here is seen and felt by many as disingenuous and lazy, latching on a real historic event and then changing it to the point of insanity or inconsistent and incorrect in order to fit and fulfill this "2 girls" that they want instead of actually taking time doing research and developing a singleplayer mission that is based on events that actually had women fighting in WW2.

Heard stories from WW2 veterans from the insanities of the war, for example an injured officer, who got a bulled in the head, it didn't kill him, yet, but he couldn't move anymore and instead yelled all the time, half insane and in pain. Another story from a soldier was, how the were shot by the Russians and a comrade close to him just 'exploded' and vanished, hit by an anti air cannon used against infantery. He was obviously one of the survivors and they managed to kill the people at that anti air cannon: it had been women. And yes, that's not a 'girl power' story, that's the story of people fighting for their existence and millions dying for it. It's not girl power, it's insanity. War is insanity.

In regards to the Colt, Norway did produce them under license and continued production during the occupation for the Wehrmacht. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kongsberg_Colt) However I have never heard anything about a Kongsberg Colt with a silencer during that period.

6:06 - As someone who lives in Hallingdal (Gol, not too far from Telemark/Rjukan), it is mountainous here. True. Oslo isn't that mountainous. But there's a lot of mountains around all the way from the southern part of Flekkefjord all the way up. Bergen is Norwegian for "the bergs/mountains", btw. Hence, the name Bergen. Rjukan was on a steep mountainside. Which is why it was used for hydroelectric power. There's also another fact you don't pick up as a non-Norwegian speaker, the daughter and the mother are speaking two very different dialects. That's more common today, as youths often drop their dialects when they move in to the major cities to study. But it was in no way common in the mid-war period or during the war. It's such an uncommon a thing, back then, that that's a fail as well. They could easily have found two voice actresses from the same area (even better, if they could have found some from Telemark, it's not like it's a small county).

She even falls into the water and is under water for an unknown time (the cut scene at least shows us ten seconds) and after that she manages to get out of the water, run soaking wet through the ice cold snowstorm and finds a hut. In the hut is a German soldier, warmed up and fed but she manages to overpower him without any strugle. AFTER she fell probalby ten meters down and hitting the stone walls and the frozen ground several times, fell down into cold water and ran hundreds of meters through the cold snow storm. GIRL POWER!

However BF1 was the last game I bought and I was moderately disappointed by its gameplay but the forced and unnessesary diversity ruined it for me. I don't get why games are afraid to really diversify their games by including colonial theaters of war in africa or asia for example. There you could include so many conflicts and really diversify your game and I would love it. But replacing a good chunk of men with women and whites with non whites is just an agenda and not honoring all the non whites who actually died while fighting in colonial wars for example. And it is not honoring their history either. But as EA said with BF5... If you don't like it, don't buy it. And I spent my money elsewhere :)

Of course, all of the Western Allied operations that were dedicated to neutralizing German heavy water production at the Vemork Power Station failed to stop the Germans from creating enough heavy water for the research and development of atomic weapons by virtue of the fact that the facility was never actually even remotely close to generating anywhere near enough heavy water for such purposes, even without the prospect of Western Allied sabotage. In fact, the Germans never even generated enough heavy water to operate a nuclear reactor, as it was, let alone enough heavy water to produce enough plutonium for even a single atomic device, when all is said and done. In all actuality, all of these operations wound up being immensely gigantic wastes of manpower, resources, assets, supplies, time, money and effort that could've been better invested elsewhere, at the end of the day. Especially given that the Germans never even got close to actually developing atomic weapons overall, at that.

Actually, an A5 in Norway during WW2 isn't unusual at all. It was made in Belgium and was very popular the world over. But the military didn't use it much, especially the European military. The U.S. military used them to train AA gunners and bomber gunners to practice and learn to lead their target. They used them to shoot trap and skeet as training. They even made mounts for them and had them mounted on the back of moving trucks. But they weren't used in combat, although you could find them lying around for personal civilian and military hunting and target use.

CoD WAW was the one of the last true and good WW2 games released. It showed the brutality of war, in many missions you can see war crimes being committed. The developers of that time did not hesitate to use Nazi swastikas for historical accuracy. The game itself had a dark tone and theme to it, allowing you to immerse yourself in the fight. It was truly a masterpiece, and still holds up today. What was so good about it is that it didn’t encourage you to take sides, war crimes were committed on both sides. In the mission Vendetta the Germans are finishing off unarmed injured Soviets in the fountain. Skip a few missions forward and the Soviets are shooting down unarmed and surrendered German soldiers. Neither side gave a quarter, and this game depicts this well. While the Pacific theatre missions focused on diversity, Japanese soldiers would shoot from trees, hide in bushes before ambushing you with a bayonet charge, allowing you to use flamethrowers, etc. The Soviet campaign was more focused on showing the brutality of war.

10:03 looks like the German is wearing an Italian paratrooper ‘samurai’ vest. Technically it was axis powers, but there’s little evidence showing the German forces in Italy used them. But it wasn’t uncommon for Germans to trade equipment with Italians, at least in 44’ when they were over there and in North Africa. Unclear if those vests were even compatible with MP-40/38 magazines, as those vests were designed for the beretta model 38. (Also sometimes used by Germans who had acquired them) so it’s possible that Germans were using them, but unlikely saw any significant use, other than a few rare moments. Looking at the in-game models is telling me that the character designers took a lot of liberties with the designs, which is normally something I would encourage, but if you’re trying to tell a historical story, they should focus on accuracy, imo.
