I have a Budweiser can in about the same shape that came from the crash site, I have had it since i was a teenager. was given to me by a crash investigator that found it in the pieces that they hauled off, I still have it in my beer can collection. Thanks for saving and not selling this stuff.

Man all this just breaks my heart. But Thankyou for all y’all do by preserving this history. I’m 36 but my Dad and Mom had me growing up on Southern Rock (I’m from East Tennessee) and all kinds of different music. hey Kelley,if it is just going to be destroyed, then you should consider going back. think about this, you might find personal items such as jewelry that might be priceless to the families involved. it would be one thing if it were just going to lay there forever, but to be destroyed forever is unthinkable. if your finds were mostly from the cockpit area, you really haven't touched the cabin area where the persona effects may be. I really hope you do go back

Excellent Video. Long Live Lynyrd Skynyrd Did you ever wonder that they just left the smaller pieces behind and just took the bigger pieces of debris. I say that because you guys found a lot of material. Things were different back then. Today they recover pretty much every splinter. I'm no expert, Just curious as to what you think.
@vicvalente4874
@vicvalente4874 5 жыл бұрын
its possible that they knew early on that the cause of the accident was fuel starvation and not any particular system failure of the aircraft so they were not interested in recovering every little bit of debris

@kellyhistoryseekers3090

@@THEATREofPAIN270 I think life was so much different then. It was the community that helped get the survivors out. In 2019, the general public would be scared of hurting someone and getting sued in a similar situation. In 1977, this type of aircraft was very old technology. Other models had been in accidents. The NTSB also relied very heavily on Artimus Pyles account of what happened. I think they thought it was an open and shut case. Read the NTSB report and see what you think. Personally, I wish they had picked everything up. We found this much in 2 hours... it does make you feel doubtful. I don't believe the hoax theories out there but they are great reading. One last thing. Six people died. Six people should be remembered. That is what bothers me most about this project. The band manager and the pilots were people, too. Reply back if you find something I didn't or have another theory. Thanks for watching 😀

The first piece you found in this video looks like part of the frame around one of the fuselage windows, so it was probably right next to one of the passengers when the plane came down... I'm surprised the NTSB didn't take the nose wheel steering tiller wheel as it could have been significant in determining the mechanism of death for the pilot or co-pilot. It takes a lot of force to break a cast aircraft-grade aluminium part off like that so you have to think that one of the pilots hit that during the course of the crash and aircraft break up. Maybe there wasn't so much emphasis on the mechanism of injury in investigations then, but in today's eyes it seems like a very glaring miss, as does the high-amperage fuse that you found, as an electrical fault could easily have caused a failed or misreading fuel gauge which could well have been a cause of the crash...
@HistorySeekers
@HistorySeekers 4 жыл бұрын
You are exactly right and most of our guys all being current or former law enforcement investigators felt the same way. Be sure to check out our latest video that we released a few days ago that shows even more items missed. It cast serious doubt on the effectiveness of the investigation.
@gosportjamie
@gosportjamie 4 жыл бұрын
@@HistorySeekers Yes, I've watched that video. It does raise quite a few questions. I'm thinking this could be another case like the Mammonas Assassinas plane crash in South America where someone seems to have found them an annoyance so the investigation got rushed and put to bed as quickly as possible to minimise the public scrutiny. I'm not trying to suggest there was anything untoward involved in the crash, but the investigation does very much seem like it could have been handled in a more thorough and professional way, at least to modern eyes...

We have offered it to the family when/if they open up a museum. We displayed them publicly for free in Charleston last year and will do so at other venues that request when we can until they have a permanent home. We spoke to a museum in North West AL near where the first album was recorded but they were unable to secure the budget to build the displays. We offered them at not charge.

I'm friends with Johnny and Donnie VanZant. I've never asked them, but I imagine videos like this make them feel pretty awful. It wasn't that long ago that someone dug up their brother and scattered his remains. And they're such great people, too. Nicest guys you could hope to meet.

John we would love to talk to them. We would like their help getting it placed in a proper museum. We are not looking to sell the items and have any intentions of doing so. You know trying to make a difference. As for excitement, well maybe you should try making the videos. Nobody wants to watch monotone people that have to rent a personality. I am sure I’d you have anything like that you would be a bit excited too. At the end of the day we were excited to have saved history before it was lost forever. Now people can see it in museums for generations to come. You are welcome. We never said it would change the outcome. If you can read through all the report it said that they recovered everything that was not obliterated. What it parts of instruments that were not recovered unlocked what had caused the plane to fun out of fuel? I was in investigator for most of my life before getting out of law enforcement. I can tell you if I put that I recovered everything and didn’t it would be a problem. So they lied in their report essential. Oh and thanks for watching.
